the 1956 operation or "operation KADESH" as it called in hebrew was only 13 days.
the war begaun when 16 DC-47s planes crossed the border with escort and droped paratroopers on the "mitle" pass. about 70Km from the border.
in the first 2 days of the war only jet fighters flew operational sorties over sinai because it was feared that the piston planes will be an easy target for the egeptians jet planes
after 2 days air superiority was achieved and all planes where allowed to fly.
the egeptians did 1 bombing run in to israel with a single IL28 jet bomber at night, the pilot didnt find his target and droped his bombs on a unhabitad area.
there where 14 air combats in the war in which 8 egeptian fighter where shot down and none to the IAF
1 special operation where made a few hours before the war began when several P51s with special hooks on their wings crossed the border to cut telephone lines, the hooks failed to do the job so the pilot cot the wires with their propelors (just like AH dweebs

the iaf hed only 2 B17s which did 8 sorties and missed allmost all their dropes, after the war the B17s were grounded.
israel used the T-6 harvard as dive bombers in the war.
the harvard who was a training plane was quickly refitted with rocket rails that could carry 16 80mm rockets and 4 50Kg bombs, he allso had a 0.3Mg in the port wing root.
they only made 8 sorties but with great succes.
