Set Terrain Button
« on: June 29, 2003, 06:42:17 PM »
Need help!  This is my first attempt at making a terrain.  I downloaded the MapMaker by Ogre and the Aces High Terrain Editor 211.  I've placed the mapmaker.typ and mapmaker.elv files created by MapMaker into the Aces High Terrain Editor.  Now the instructions say to fire up the AH Terrain Editor and load  up the new folder using the "Set Terrain Button".  Where is the Set Terrain Button.  Also, the Terrain Editor screen is not the same as shown in the Help File.

Best thing to do is

1) Run Terrain Editor ( TE )
2) At the top left of screen goto File and then New
3) Make up a name of a terrain... no longer than 8 characters and type it into File Name section and then click Open.
4) Select Map Size 512 then Ok
5) Go back to File and select Exit
6) Click yes to the message box question (Save)
7) Find your .elv and .typ files created by MapMaker and rename them to the name of the Terrain you are making. ( keeping the .elv and .typ extensions  :)  )
8) Copy and Paste or Move them to your Terrain name folder ( these will delete the original ones )
9) Now run the TE and select your Terrain and you should see tile textures and elevations

And to answer your next questions, "Why is the help file so wrong?", its because it was made when the TE was a VERY different kind of program.
