Startup problem Skuzzy??? anyone???
« on: August 06, 2003, 05:18:21 AM »
Hmmm...

OK can hook up to AH just fine.  See arena's etc.

However!  When I click on an arena the file download screen comes up and I see

File:   File:

Bytes Received    Bytes Received

File Length           File Length

Time Remaining    Time Remaining

Total Time             Total Time

Bytes Per Sec        Total Time

and the "cancel" and "resume later" buttons

Modem activity lights RO and SO go dead. (external modem)

After a few minutes I see Host Connection Lost and when I click on the OK button I go to desktop.

System specs
w98se, FIC SD11 MB, 800 amd ath, 512 ram mem, ATI Radeon 9000 pro 64,  Memorex KB, MS optical wheel mouse, Creative 512 sound card,  U.S.Robotics V.92 external modem hooked to com port 1 and the modem is tuned/set to same speed for download and upload.

Virus checker off, firewall off, etc.  Only things in memory are ATI drivers, sound drivers, and keyboard drivers, and your standard windows stuff like runapp etc.

Have downloaded AH 1114 twice now and installed totally removed and reinstalled twice now.

Have removed and reinstalled modem and config software 4 times :(

Had an earlier problem with hid compliant keyboard driver.  when I installed the driver the modem stopped working and had to remove and reinstall to get it to work.  Thinkin it might be the Memorex Keyboard HID driver as that driver is USB? But modem is Com1?????!!!!???

Anyone got any idea's ????

Whoa!!!

New discovery!!!

Noticed keyboard driver lacked a light in the left box.

Numlock off and then back on.

Left box is now light.

Tried download again!

It tried to down load but appeared to stop after 1024k?!?! Then lost host connection.

Tried again said resume then finally lost host connection again.

Hmm is there a setting for the size of a download????

Any suggestions?????

Go to the Aces High installation directory (default: C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High) and rename the "settings" folder to something else.  It does not get removed when you uninstall Aces High.
Failing that, then run a traceroute to 216.91.187.39 and see what happens.

Bingo!  Thanks alot!

Rename settings folder and it downloaded no prob!

What do I need to fix inside the settings folder?  Or do I just proceed and create all new settings?

Again thanks!

Don't forget to calibrate the stick/throttle/pedals in Aces High and Windows.

The login.cfg and video7.cfg files in the old settings folder contains the video and login information.  All the other files are created during the course of configuring everything.

Discovery?!?!

Works ok if I have poll interupts turned on.  Soon as I turn it off it stops workin correctly and I can't do anything online in AH?!?!?

?!?!? any comment?????  to me that seems kinda hmmm...

Oh did calibrate in both

Still have to have poll int. on or doesn't work.  Been up all night messin with this off and on while I was doin other stuff.  Think it's time I went to bed LOL.

But did get online and did some shootin :)  Kinda odd ran outa fuel in a p51d, didn't fly that far, and ran outa fuel goin less distance during the second sortie then I went during the 1st?!?!

Took same amount both times 75%.

Was gonna take a spit9, selected it, but went back to the pony and it used fuel like it was a spit9???????

Maybe just my imagination, or didn't estimate the distance right?

Oh well :D  Online finally :)

Thanks ALOT!!!!!

Any further input will be greatly appreciated!!!!

If your stick is connected to a gameport, then it is is usually a good idea to poll w/interrupts.

OK :)

Thanks :D

It's just that I never had to do it before :)

But guess I gotta do it now :)

Think it's the new keyboard.  Worth it, I really like the feel of the keys and the bells and whistles are nice too LOL.
