Spring, 1901. In the west, Britannia rules the seas, except for the "English" Channel, which could now be considered the "French Channel".

The French, not content to control the English channel, also embark on a mission to Spain.

The Kaiser's forces consolidate the northern borders by liberating Denmark, while the Russian fleet in St. Petersburg conducts  training manuevers in the Gulf of Bothnia.

Meanwhile, in the south and east, the Tsar's Russian steamroller rumbles into Galicia and Rumania. The forces of Austria move to the south and west to quash the rebellious Serbs, leaving the capitals of Hungary and Austria undefended.

The Italian King settles for commanding the Ionian Sea and for positioning his armies for futures adventures.

As the temperature rises in the Balkans, the Sultan kicks it up a notch by invading Bulgaria for the good of the cause. That leaves only Greece unoccupied as we head toward the fall movement phase.

Respectfully signed,

Master banana

Austria:  next time, consider the "Hedgehog" :)  Good luck in the guessing game this Fall...

Turkey:  What do you call that maneuver?  Congratulations, I think you've made a new entry in the opening list for Turkey, which isn't easy!

I considered it, and opted against it.

CONSTANTINOPLE (AP) - Turkish forces today fought turkish forces in what appears to be a case of mistaken identity. The Smyrnan regulars received new uniforms last month and the Constantinople forces have yet to receive the new issue. In what is being called a routine training maneuver, the Smyrnan regulars entered Constantinople. Civilians here falsely believed that this was an attack from Italy and alerted the Ankaran fleet which in turn fired upon the Smyrna regulars. Some consider this the most tragic event since the fall of the Ottoman empire.

The Sultan was unavailable for comment.

**RADIO ADDRESS BY PRESIDENT TARMAC OF FRANCE**

Recent balloon flyovers of Portugal indicate that the despotic leader of the isolated country has begun reprocessing used coal rods, with the intention of making terrible weapons of mass destruction.  While the Portugese insist that these coal rods are for power generation, intelligence from a reliable source indicates that they will most likely be used in terrible attacks on civillians, most likely dropped from light planes or small unmanned aerial vehicles.

Imagine the carnage if a large block of coal were dropped on your country... your city... your home.  To deal with this threat, I have appointed a monkey from an French zoo to play with coloring books and crayons.  These coloring books will then be interpreted by intelligence experts.  The following method of interpretation has been devised:

Monkey colors book Green:  Things are very bad.  But give me your trust and I'll fix it.
Monkey colors book Yellow: Things are terrible.  But give me time and I'll fix it.
Monkey colors book Red:  You are absolutely screwed.  But give me your trust and your money and your children, and I'll waste them and then go hide in a bunker.

To simplify this process so that the common people can understand, we will only provide the monkey with 1 crayon per day.  Since I am smart enough to be elected President, I will choose the color of the crayon.

Earlier today, Spain asked for help in protecting its border at the... umm... 38th parallel.  In defense of the Spanish people, a French army has mobilized and moved to protect the Spanish from any hostile Portuguese attacks.  While any attacks on Spain would result in great loss of life, the Spanish and French forces will surely win the day and liberate the oppressed people of Portugal.

Our intelligence sources indicate that Portugal, in conjunction with Romania and an as yet unnamed third country, may be part of a "Axle of Bad People."

And if you question any of our actions, you should move to Portugal you stupid ungrateful hippie traitor.

Goodnight, and God bless.

What?  It's a perfectly reasonable response to the terrible situation we're in.

Stop laughing, or I'll call you unpatriotic.
