THIS is "good stuff"
« on: August 21, 2003, 11:03:22 PM »
My old college roomate showed up with a bottle of this tonight.

An intense discussion resulted, comparing the attributes of 18 year old MacAllan to this Cask Strength which states no age.

I believe the Cask may indeed be better whiskey than the 18. My old roomate begs to differ. My wife likes them both.

In any event, this whiskey comes highly recommended, although it may lead to posts on the BBS where you tell folks what you really think.

Enjoy. (Cheaper than the 18 too!)

Quote
The Macallan Cask Strength was introduced to the USA during 2002 to appeal to both current Macallan drinkers and lovers of cask strength whisky. Bob Dalgarno and his team of nosers laboured long and hard to select the right balance of first and second fill sherry oak casks from Spain that when combined created a Macallan of tremendous strength, power and complexity.

Conscious that whisky at natural cask strength of almost 60% abv can be overly pungent Bob has managed to balance the obvious high alcohol with classic clove like spices and dried fruits

Both are very good, HOWEVER....Mac 25 kicks 'em both.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Toad, can you send me a bottle of Cast so I can judge for myself?

Cripes, I once talked my dad into buying a bottle of 25 year old MacAllen, and he gave it away.  :(

The best I've done is an ounce and a half of the 18.  Unfricken' believable scotch though.

Rpm: Well, yah.. no cheese!

Locally 26 YO Mac is at $255. Cask is at $54 and 18 YO is ~$85.

I think the Cask is a bargain and I'm laying in a case before they jack the price. ;) My son has a friend in the liquor store biz, so I may do even better.

Thrawn, no. But if you ever get down here to enjoy some BBQ, we can hold a tasting that features most of the MacAllan line, including the 25 YO.

Some people collect baseball cards.. I choose other things of sentimental value. :D
