Or so this bunch of wingnuts spent $100,000 to prove:

While road kill may be a dead issue to some people, transportation and environmental experts addressed the problem in a series of meetings in upstate New York this week.

The group gathered in Lake Placid at the Conference on Ecology and Transportation (search) to discuss life and death issues as they relate to snakes, frogs and turtles. Meanwhile, critics blasted the event's $100,000 price tag.

Talk about speed bumps that are animals...    One time I was up at the hunting camp in my Delta 88 rounding a curve about 70 mph, and there on the side of the road, half-on-half-off, was a deer carcass.  I kept going and ran right over it...didn't affect the car at all, like it wasn't even there.  Right front tire took a jolt though.  Sounded like it knocked the tire up into the wheel well.

The solution is simple, drive a big, heavy car and you don't have to worry about roadkill.:D

I could have given them the solution for a lot less in a $45 portable coleman gas stove.

I've got one of those Fatty.   A good thing to have, though I've only used it once or twice.  Technology has invaded the deepest woods, with TV, radio, and cell phones.  Everything must be improved.

I'm old fashioned, and would rather not have all that in a hunting camp, except for the phone.  But there ain't much to do, sitting around a campfire watching a football game on TV, almost so close to the bonfire that you think it's gonna melt.  Drinking Crown Royal and eating like a king out in the middle of remote woods.  That was what I gave up.

Now, I'm in another hunting camp, more family oriented.   Where there's rules to follow.  Haven't been a member of a camp like that for 13 years or so.  I need the excercise.

Went last year without hunting at all, and that did not help me much.  I said to myself, I can't take another year without going hunting.
