stiehl, RO by far has the most realistic feel to WWII combat of any of the WWII games I've played. All aiming is done with ironsights. Sure you can shoot without them but unless you have an SMG close up it's hard to hit anything. Long range rifle shots are great. Looking down the sights looks very much like the real thing. They put a lot of effort into getting the weapons as realistic as possible. None of that fast-paced Quake style of MoHAA or DoD. Your run time is limited and you have to rest between sprints to run again.  The heavy-breathing effect is cool. Also no bunny hopping. :)

I've been playing this mod non-stop, online since it came out 3-weeks ago. That's more than I can say about many games I've paid $50 for.

Hey Saur/Engine... ya'll find that bug in Berlin yet? It may have been fixed with the last patch.  I've only "used" it once, but I accidentally found a spot where if you "go prone" while crouched you can fall into a mound of debrie.  Nobody can see you but you can shoot normally lol.  Probably had 60kills before I ran outta ammo... Germans just kept comin.. more and more of'em!  Ya I know it was cheap but hey, you only get lucky once hehe.

Great another chump abusing bugs. Man they need to fix these maps.

I go by the name Liet there.  Lookin forward for RO to become more polished, it's awesome.

BAH!  You bastard!  Messing with my whole routine.  :D

The Germans just fill that alley after they spawn - its kind of like the Omaha map for DoD - unless you advance its a turkey shoot - no cover and nowhere to run to.

MiniD - RO = Red Orchestra.  Check it out here:

http://www.unrealwarfarex.com/redorchestra/

Something to wet your appetite.

If you liked the direction DoD took FPS's after Counterstrike, youll love where the RO team has taken the DoD type game.  Alot of AHers play Operation Flashpoint - RO makes OpFlash, DoD, and any other 'realistic' infantry simulator look like an arcade game.

They also have plans to add vehicles, heavy weapons (MG's, mortors, AT, etc), and voice support with UT2004.

Considering that the mod is only a 3 week old Beta, its amazing.  It needs some polish here and there which will come with time - but at the very least, its better than 90% of the retail games out there.

Tumor - no - havent found that bug yet.  The only 'bug' I can find consistantly (thats bad) is the weapon change bug.  After throwing a grenade the game gives me some difficulty switching back to my primary weapon.

Stiehl - There are a good number of people playing (30+ servers since launch with more added every day).  The weapons selection is outstanding for an initial beta.  All major Soviet and German weapons are available.  As for comparison, see above.  If you need some evidence of the mod's potential, several DoD clans have already switched over.

When was the last time the DoD team released a patch or an update?  7 months?  The RO team has been pumping out updates to solve problems withing days of discovery - its really quite extraordinary.

So RO geeks - we gonna start an AH squad or what?  The Sturmovik's or something?  :D

So do I need Unreal 2003 or 2004 to play? I'm a wicked FPS player, maybe we can start an AH squad... eh maybe not... but hope to see you folks soon.

Give some additional information for those who would like to join the fray with familiar faces.

-Thanks

Guess I could give it a try. I get 55/11 60/9 (last night)scores on DOD without camping. As long as it's realistic I would probably enjoy it.

I didn't have trouble with the 2 COD demos(radeon 9600) what's the problem with ati cards?
