I'm bought HD2 on saturday and really enjoying it (had to remap just about every key tho). the intro to the first mission is pretty cool too.:)

Online play is really unstable, not been on a server that hasn't crashed at some point.  I'm finding quite fun when i do manage to play though.

I had to do the remap also..  quite bad default keys, unless if you're left handed, then you might keep those.

I need to know one thing about H&D2... do the enemies still snarl and have their guns waving about when not alerted or engaged?

The atmosphere and ambience is a big thing for me.  As long as the AI isn't as dumb as the original, I'll pick the game up right away :)

Personally I'm hoping for some realism mods with redone player/weapons models. Acutally when I think about it its just a redone MOHAA with iron sights. The squad teamwork gimmick gets old when you realize the bots run scripted paths and do the samething ie: console gaming. "Call Of Duty -scenes stolen from movies"
I don't see the realism when you unload a clip into an enemy and they just flap their arms and get back up and you have to shoot them again.

H&D2 of course is sqaud based tactical but there is an option to play online with up to 32 in deathmatch and cop games.

Try the COD demos... thats pretty much what you get in the retail plus the multiplayer aspect which I tired from fast.

As I write this my clan the 1stSF is writing the realism mods for CoD --we will have our server switched over from MOHAA to CoD within a month --we are a tactical realism clan and it will have the basic Mods we have run in MOH---No RanG and pee pee dancing --weapons mods will fix both damage models and recoil-- we will also NOT run the kill cam......Our test server is up and running now and it should be unlocked by this weekend if not before,,Look for the 1stSF name on the server. If you are interested in joining/forming a tact clan let us know, we are trying to promote this form in CoD also.

What about "The Great Escape"? I almost picked it up this past weekend but passed on it till I could find out a little more about it. So far I haven't seen a "review/preview" anywhere but then I haven't busted my balls looking for one either.

I played it on PS2.  It was entertaining.  Not worth 50 bucks though IMO.

I just rent PS2 games online.  It's much cheaper, and I can try out the ones I want with out forking out the dough for them.

If you buy a lot of xbox games, you may want to check out  Red Octane   I use them for PS2 rentals.  It ends up being cheaper for me in the long run.  I pay 19 bucks a month, and can have two games out at any time, and keep them for as long as I want.  I mostly joined because there were a lot of games out that looked like something I may be interested in, but not enough to risk buying them.

Shipping is free each way, and is fairly quick.

The major battles were trench warfare, with large amounts of men rushing into No Mans Land at the sound of a whistle.  Then they'd get mowed down by machine guns, the other side would do the same thing.  Rinse, Wash, Repeat.

Ever read All Quiet On The Western Front?
