FINALLY! We will be able to do almost real tank battles using the cover of trees. Before you could just turn off Clutter and no trees, well now they are trying to fix it so you have to go around trees, which means you can't shoot through them or make them dissappear which means that they are actual permenant cover. Which really makes it awesome! I wanted to do Cover Tank Battles forever!

Agree, tank battles will probarly be great. However, trees in R/L don't give any sort of cover (except they are good to hide behind) from high velocity shells.

Yes they do. You'd be surprised how easily high velocity projectiles are deflected by trees and other "less solid" objects (ever seen bullets ricochet off water?), and even if it hits the target the projectile is probably "upset" and has reduced penetrating power.

change direction yes, but no tree will stop a high velocity round.

So what you're saying is, we should just learn to bank our shots off of trees?

He's saying the AH trees will stop shells unlike irl.
Maybe make them destructible and give them a downtime?

hiding behind is right. and since your using 75 76 and 88mm AP rounds dont think a tree should stop that round and HE rounds will blow up tree first and maybe some minor damage if any . then more shots till tress arent a problem (HE rnd) Well irl some things would be damged from HE hitting tree near tank like turrent mg and more damage to lesser armored GV's but in game i guess you get what can be done as close as possibe to irl and the smaller the AP round the more hits it would need to take out tree. So itis going to be fun inGV reguardless. cant wait to get some in my sights

I think an AP round would snap a tree in half, to say the least ;)

Mind you, I don't really know what I'm talking about... brady, you know things. Speak up.

I agree that trees shouldn't be able to totally stop rounds but you should be able to fire through the gaps in trees, especially at the ends.  To get a shot on the enemy now you pretty much have to expose yourself.  So does he I guess but the enemy may have the drop on me.

Likewise, bombs should be able to penetrate cover on the edges, especially carpet bombing.  1000 lb bombs shouldn't be stopped by a Spruce.

Not saying it should be able to blow them away, or shoot through them. Just saying, in real life would take MANY meters to stop a high velocity AP bullet from not going through, it may change direction but it will definatly not be stopped by a tree.

Otherwise we would have just made tanks out of trees :)

Last summer we had to cut down a 250+ year old oak tree. It took 2 hrs with 48" runners, just to drop and was easily 6 feet thick. If a 75 shell going to go through that, it ain't gunna blow nothin up on the other side.lol.

edit:
Come to think of it tho, it woulda went a lot faster if we used HE shells to drop it.hehe.

Hey Sarge1,

Howdy neighbor! :)
We're close enough to throw rocks at each other.
I'm in Philadelphia, near Franklin Mills Mall.
Just wanted to give you a shout!
