MAYBE they'll get the evidence on him this time. Maybe this time, all the whitewash, p.r. and back-stepping from Michael Jackson's spin machine won't make this, his latest accusation from yet another preteen boy, go away.

Maybe this time, the shape-shifting/nose-dropping/child-dangling popster can't lawyer it all away. Why? For one thing, his good "friend," the one who helped rescue him in the 1993 child-abuse case - is in trouble.
I'm talking, of course, about Anthony Pellicano, the alleged wire-tapping, admitted explosives-keeper who boasted that he worked for Jackson.
Maybe Michael Jackson will go down, too.
I can't say for sure whether this is related - and I'm certainly not accusing anyone of a crime - but I had an interesting thing happen to me shortly after I broke the first story about the obsession Jackson had with a young boy he had taken to Europe (along with the boy's 5-year-old sister and mother).
I found two guys outside my apartment door - on ladders. They had removed the plastic molding over my door and were fiddling with wires.
I just happened to be home sick that day, and I confronted them. They said they were checking my cable. Great - except I didn't have cable. I called the doormen, but these two clowns disappeared faster than a David Blaine (news - web sites) act.
My phone got weird - clicks, clacks, picking up stray conversations. The phone company couldn't figure out if it was bugged. Then I started getting threatening calls - at home and at work.
I didn't connect any of this to any of that until recently, when stories started breaking faster than eggs on Halloween about Pellicano and allegations that he'd been wiretapping the enemies of his clients for years.
Meantime, the man who had accused Jackson 10 years ago of molesting his child had been haunted, too. Some say almost destroyed.
In 1993, he was not only a hugely successful dentist in Hollywood, but co-writer of a hit movie. The future wasn't only bright, it was glaring. The present was pretty terrific, too. Great, that is, until his ex-wife, and the mother of his child, remarried a man who later introduced Jackson to his family.
When Jackson started spending nights at the kid's house, on the bed, eating pizza, and taking them all over Europe, the father got suspicious. Then worried. Then enraged.
I spoke yesterday with his friend, a personal manager to many stars who hasn't been able to contact the father for years and who asked to remain anonymous. He told me that "for [this man], it was never, never about the money. Never. He didn't need the money. He wanted to save his boy.
"He flew in a child psychologist from New Jersey, who told them that it that would ruin [his kid] forever because they'd put him on the stand and destroy him.
"What happened then, however . . . See, [the father] used to share his dental office with a few other dentists. Then the story came out, and [thugs] started showing up in the waiting room, scaring the patients. The other dentists asked him to move out because of all the disruptions."
The man was losing credibility. "His father was a judge in New York at one point. A nice family," the friend continued.
"But one night, he went to the [office building's] garage, and he got beat up. Horrible. The FBI (news - web sites) got involved. He told me he asked them what to do, and they told him to move away, disappear, for a couple of years. I haven't heard from him since. His number was disconnected." Clearly, he was no longer living the good life in Hollywood.
While many of his old friends can't find him, you'll be happy to know that father and son now live together in an undisclosed American city. And they travel often to Europe together.
"[The father's] become reclusive," said a relative. "He's probably worried that people will ask him about the case." Or that thugs in garages will find him again.
Another relative told me the child's father had plastic surgery. "I don't know why," he said. "We used to call him the good-looking Brad Pitt (news - web sites)." Can I venture a guess or three?"
