Built this system for under $ 800

ASUS A7N8X del. MB
AMD 2500 Barton Core cpu
Antec Solution series SLK 3700 AMB CASE 350W ps
Leadtek A310 Ultra TD FX 5600 ultra 128mb ddr
512 MB Corsair XMS Extreme PC 3200
Samsung CDRW 48x24x48
Samsung CD drive 52X
WD 80gb Caviar 8mb cache HDD
Antec 120mm case fan

Runs perfectly, 78 to 210 fps in AH.
Running XP Pro

Just don't use new sound drivers from MS, screwed up sound in game. Stay with the ones shipped with the board.

I really like the case you got there. In the last few months I have used it in 10-15 systems that I have built and have not had any trouble with it at all. It is super easy to install everything you need in and is really quiet as well with great cooling.

You got that right, it's super quiet. I have it right on top of the desk within 2 feet of me and I still hear NME tanks try to sneak up on me, to their suprise!

Even with 120mm fans.  I noticed that it now comes in black.
Ran ASUS utility and the temp. and voltage readouts are all at nominal levels.  Antec PS quality product.

May upgrade to Athalon 2800 Barton core.

I have about the same system.  I started with a Antec case and fans, 80G drive and CD drives, and video card.

I added:

ASUS A7V8X-X MB
AMD 2500+ Barton Core cpu (in box with cooling fan)
512 MB Corsair PC 3200

The parts were under $250 plus Shipping.  It was a cheap upgrade and has been working great.

Enjoy your new PC
