well..

LOK!!!!! gdammit!!..he gave me a link to Omega drivers becuase my video card was showing a a black horizon in AH2. I wont go into the no responses from HTC about this..(which makes me unhappy)  He was the only guy who responded about my AH2 problem.

well anyways i go to instal a new driver for my vid card..ARGHHHH

im screwed...now no drivers are working..im running on 16 color right now...

I couldnt even boot up except in safe mode..im running bettr now ..noi safe mode but i can only run 16 color...

Im trying to do a whole new fresh install of win 98..but it says it wont run in under 256 color??...hell all i got it 16 colors..

anyhelp?

install the last set of drivers you had that were working and then reinstall directX ...

you wil probly have to deleate the video.cfg  file in AH folder also and reset it to start the game afterwards .

anytime you mess with drivers its a good idea to reinstall directX

BGB, the black horizon is a bug in the ATI drivers.

The Catalyst 3.4 and later versions correct the bug.  The Cat 3.7's are what I have loaded on my 8500 here and they work fine.

You will have to uninstall the ATI drivers BEFORE updating to the new Catalyst drivers.  You will also need the ATI control panel, or grab the ATI driver package that has both integrated.

The problem is easy to fix, but you have to be methodical about it.

BGB, just use the ATI Add/Remove link in the Add/Remove Programs ICON to remove the drivers.  You might want to do this in safe mode.

Then install the ATI drivers.  ATI is a little bit easier to deal with than NVidia, in this regard.

Here are the links to the driver I am using for the 8500 I have here.  NOTE:  The archived ATI drivers do not have the ATI Control Panel bundled with them, so it must be installed separately.  Just install the video driver first, then install the control panel.

the reinstall of directX is the last thing you do ... taht way it reconizes the new drivers and loads them into the program correctly ...

P.s use DX 9.0b       9.0-9.0a  had problems with some combinations

Go to the video display properties (Display ICON in the COntrol Panel) and change the driver to the Standard VGA driver.

Oops, I did not catch you were running Win98.  Sorry about the driver mixup.  Thank you straffo.

it will probly ask you to put in you 98se CD  or yor main board cd and you will have to reinstall the vga drivers

i got to display...it says i have the standard VGA driver on...

it gives me the same id stuff i posted ealier..


but if u hit the "Change" it wont even work...it does not give me an option to change the driver.
