"Switching to UDP" maybe???
Try changing your gametroller so that the
poll with interrupts IS checked. Then see what happens.

I had to do that before when I used to have regular dial up internet access and at some point this occured to me.
Since I've gone to cable modem access I have un-checked it and I do not get that message anymore.
It may have to do with the quality of your connect. I know Verm from several sessions that I've hosted "RogueSpear" that your connects are often in the yellow or red indicating not very good.

Different person Westy

Vermin is actually the "original" Verm from way back in DOS AW days.

And then when I picked up that cpid in AW4W about 6 years ago(and ever since), I got asked alot if I was him.

The "switching to TCP...not recieving updates" is strictly a connection/packet loss item.

When it happens to me, I've quit the game and relogged, or tried a diff ISP. (I've got 3 and they all suk)
I'll usually get that when my Ping is over 500ms. Usually during the daytime and evening when it's busy.

I pinged hitechcreations.com 100 times and I averaged 183ms with 0 packet loss, so I don't think it's my connection.

The exact message I get is Not receiving updates switched to TCP. I can see my modem sending, but the receive light only blinks a little. When I first log in I see the map update, but when i try to change fields, go to the hanger check the roster... ect,  it won't do anything.

I'm not behind a firewall or using a proxy server or anything like that.

Also, other games like Halflife and Unreal Tournament work just fine online.

I also have to leave Poll with interupts off for my joystick setting, otherwise it slows my net connection to a crawl for some reason.
(I have the new saitek combo)

Getting that message is not necessarily bad, it just means you're only using TCP.  We get that everytime from the office because of the way our network is setup.  The strange thing is that you're not able to do anything.  Do you see any radio traffic or can you access the roster?

Nope, I don't get roster or radio traffic.
I was able to fly online with no problems
about a month ago... I'm not sure if one of the updates messed things up, or it was something I added on my end.

You sure about that? He asked the question much more gently than Verm would have...of course, with age come mellowness...

Whelp, I got it working by switching my joystick from the gameport to USB. I have no clue why this would effect my connection to AH... Oh well atleast it works now

Has chute dragging been implemented yet?
