SiD, what looks like a dive straight onto the ack isn't quite so (or shouldn't be, because that will kill you every time). What you need is a near straight dive with a very slight but steady pull across the ack. If you miss it keep pulling out, straightening to get the shot is where people die.
Straight anything re: ack will get you killed.
