Day 1 open beta, or, as near as I can remember.........

The first open beta version was a bit more challenging then, than it is now.  Torque effect was much more pronounced then.  I enjoyed the game then as much as I do now, although I don't get near enough flight time now as I used to.

Thanks HiTech and crew for a most enjoyable game :aok

I was probably in the first or second beta month. I think I found a link in combatsim.com  No fuel usage, no limit on wep. No guns on buffs. No wings tearing off. HOing everyone I could find, calling people cheaters when they could turn inside me when I was pulling as hard as I could.

Every second day was a new version to download.

THAT I remember well.  Prime time was very fun.  Chogs everywhere.  Base capture was fun.  Sneaky captures of 10+ bases by two people (two passes, ack down, troops in, poof) after midnight.

I always became depressed around 1-2am... everyone else had logged for the evening!

I was a buff dweeb.  First squad, The Mad Bombers, lead by Sunchasr.  Laser guided bombs from 30k to knock out HQ was always a blast.

It might have been alpha I don't remember. It was REALLY rough and primitive. Everything was tan except the bases..I remember that.

Too rough for me, I did a couple of weeks.

Was that beta, or alpha ?? I can't remember whether my "date" on this board came at the same time or a while after.

open beta dweeb.

hblair got me interested in it when we were stuck playing the old warbirds Air Combat Arena.

I played a couple times and imediately found the vertical flight modelling compared to warbirds in specific moves like hammerheads was not fluid or authentic. in fact i hated it (still do but i tolerate it)  also the 3d cockpits and moveable head positions were incredible improvement over any other system of cockpit views in terms of realism. (and they still are the best)

it was free and better than the awful gameplay of the ACA and the buck an hour warbirds HA and MA was too pricey.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013
