I was expecting to hate this set-up but instead found some decent fighting and had a blast.

Wide you actually differentiate between Vs and inlines?  Seems rather artificial from the most parsimonious desctription being radial or inline.  If inline then V or Straight (or flat or even those funky v24s alined like a flat engine).  Cant think of many inline aircraft engines that were straight at this point, besides maybe a leftover from ww1.
