Simple Question

What system of measurement is used when ranging Aircraft and Vehicles.

Feet, Yards, or Meters?

i.e. 1k = 1000 ?

All the measurements are empirial  AFAIK, miles, feet, yards.   Distance on aircraft and vehicle icons are in yards.
