What the??
« on: February 14, 2004, 10:02:54 AM »
So I go in this morning expecting some nice, F4F/A6M2 action and what do I find? P-38's upping for the long haul from 41 to meet A6M5 s over A9, with level bombers overhead too.  How very disappointiing. Time for CT staffers to "Man Up". Make a plan and stick with it. Stop listening to the special interest groups.

PS: If the presence of the above mentioned planes is a fluke or error, my apologies to the CT staff.

Well I'd like to fix it but I'm dropping so many packets I can't stay in the arena long enough to make any changes, I'll see if any of the staff are around that can reboot the arena for me.

You know slash, like that shadowy group of F4U enthusiasts trying to subvert the CT community by adding the F4U-1C to everything.  :)

Where the hell are the Level bombers!?!

One minute they are there and then they are not. Someone pick up a history book and check it out. By this time in the war as the war moved toward Bouganville Medium Bombers were thick operating out of Henderson and other fields.

Give us the Boston and the Ki-67 back at least. Want to be generous throw in the B-17 and B-26 as well.

Soulyss, been a CM before so I know what you are up against but don't forget us bomber folks - the TBM and KATE just don't cut it.

Jester may be right as far as the dedicated bomber clam, however, I for one would like to see formations of Kates, Vals, SBDs, TBMs and IL-2s for a change.

The decision to leave them out was made on a couple points.  First and foremost I wanted to see how things would go without them since it really hasn't been done before at least in an early war PTO setup.  The problem is both bombers (Peggy and Boston) really outstrip the fighters available to us to use.

Secondly I went on feedback I heard when the issue was first raised back on wed/thurs or so.  I heard a lot of people saying leave them and nobody saying they really wanted them in there.

This doesn't mean that I'm always going to go with what people say.  But I did not hear one voice saying they would like to have the bombers in there.  If I run this setup again things may be a little different who knows we'll see when the time comes.

As it is I'm considering a midweek "modification" to the setup and advancing the time frame a little bit so there will be some more advanced AC during the final two days of the setup.  Nothing is set in stone and the idea is being discussed amongst the CM's.

So you're saying CT regulars are a special intrest group, ok, Ill agree with that.  How exactly is listening to player input a bad thing?

Listening to player input is not a bad thing. Changing the set-up mid-stream due to input from special interest groups (bomber drivers, vehicle drivers, blue plane nuts, 109 fetishists, etc.) is a bad thing. I saw lots of folks begging for their own interests to be served in this set-up. I went into the arena and found those very things present (bombers, F-4U's, A-6m5's, etc.). It was quite easy for me to "ass-u-me" the CMs had bent to the wishes of those who had posted. I was mistaken. Those who know me will assure you that this is the very first mistake I have ever made. No! Really!  EXCUUUUUUUSE MEEEEEE!
