GV's & Throttle

Is there a reason AH2 gv's cannot use throttle axis like pt boats? I find using the joystick y-axis unnatural. Anyone else?

I'm not sure if tanks have throttles such as aircraft do, but certainly for trucks like the M16 or M3, I can think of a perfectly good reason:  They don't have throttles, they have gas pedals which require constant pressure to get power.  Mapping it to a stick axis makes a little more sense than a throttle to me.  Besides, if you want to maintain constant speed without having to push on the stick all the time, you could just switch to a gun view and steer with rudder, which is what I always do.  You can see better.

Yes, please.

Using the throttle for the throttle in GVs would be so much nicer.  Having to press forward on the joystick constantly gets very old when you have a joystick with strong springs like the Cougar.

I think the GVs here have cruise control.  I've never had to keep pressure on my stick to give gas.  All I do is get my GV up to speed, make sure it's in the proper gear and let go of the stick and it cruises without losing speed and no input from me.

Hmm.  I've found that they won't maintain speed unless you switch to a different position.

I think different joysticks affect game play significantly. I've found a recent change in joystick has affected flight stability and responsiveness. I can turn on a dime with some planes now and was always baffled at how others could outturn me in certain situations before in the same plane.

My current js doesn't seem to maintain max throttle after changing views and it isn't a calibration issue. I can appreciate that strong tensions in a stick can get tedious in gv's.

There are alot of things we have to simulate for all vehicles - It's a game and it can't be helped. I'm not sure having gv throttle controlled like other air and sea vehicles would deteriorate from gameplay.
