Question to the community

I all I had a quick question, a poll or sorts.   With a lot of debate going on and on about plane balance and such.  I just wanted to ask in your own opinion what your favorite/best plane matchups in the game?  When I'm planning my next setup I think about which planes to I enjoy fighting against in my current ride.  

For example I am a big fan of the F6F vs.  N1k matchup.  I find this to be a very "balanced" matchup that is a lot of fun for both sides since the planes are similar in performance.  I'm not really a great F6F pilot but it is my ride of choice in the MA and I do have a lot of time in it so I can hold my own most the time against the N1k but that's just my opinon someone else may think that the fight is really "unbalanced" one way or the other and that's what I'm trying to get at with this thread.  

So lets here it, if you could create any 1v1 scenario what would it be if you would have to fly it from both sides?

I wouldn't mind an F6F v N1k matchup, Arlo's suggestion works for me too

Here is the classic ETO match-up.  The Spit MK1 (or Hurricane MK 1) against the ME-109 of the same period.  Put them on either side if the English Channel and get rid of everything else.  That should be an even match-up.

Prefer the Spit V Hurri II vs 109F or G2 and the early 190As early 1942

or even better the Spit V, IX, Tiffie vs the 109Gs, 190As in 1943.  Throw in Mossies, Ju88s, 110s as well for the guys who want to lug bombs.

Seems like that would be fairly even

I like the 109f vs the La5 and I like the 109f vs the Spit V.  I also like the Spit I 109E setup, and the Burma and early Guadalcanal setups.

For later war, there is not a late war ride matchup that bothers me, it is the early war rides matched against the mid to late war rides that gets everyone uptight.

What a great question!

P-40E v. 202 or Tony.  Both are classic matches, probably the closest you'll get in Axis v. Allied.  Not to mention the most fun.

P-47D-11 v. 109G-2 or G-6.

FM2 v. A6M5.

109G10 v. Spit 14.

The foregoing are what I think are balanced matches.  I'm closely watching this week's P-38 setup to see how it works out; it may be another in the above category.

My favorite setup is still the Spit I and Hurri I v. 109E and 110C, but experience shows you need all four a/c involved to achieve arena balance.

They are just about as evenly matched as the BOB plane set.

About the C Hog - just don't see the appeal. Would much rather have the F4U-1D.

Lastly, I think we should steer away from the 1 vs. 1 set ups. It isn't historical and not really fair for those that come and want to fly a variety of planes in the CT.

...oh yes, F4U-1 birdcage and P-40E vs Ki-61 and A6M5. Thats one, there are many good matchups.
