The complicated one includes quadratic equations. Only math nerds like quadratic equations.
By the way, I like quadratic equations.
If you solve the following using the quadratic equation: x^2 - x - 1 = 0
you end up with: 1 + sqrt (5) / 2 and 1 - sqrt (5) / 2. Note that the '1 + sqrt (5)' and the '1 - sqrt (5)' is divided by 2.
Also note that '1 + sqrt (5) / 2' is the number phi, also known as the Golden Ratio.
The Golden Ratio is instrumental numberous things including:
- Fibonnaci Numbers
- Numerous aesthetic construction - including Greek, Roman, Itilian structures, the Pyramids, the aspects in da Vinci's painting 'The Last Supper'
- Nature - the ratio of the human body, the arrangements of pine cones, sunflowers, and even the leaves on a stalk
