Yep, there's a swastika on the plane.
In germany displaying the swastika is legal for "educational" purposes only (e.g. in a museum or on a TV documentary). I wasn't sure how this affected model planes and did a google search.
Turns out the pilot in the video (Klaus Buttler) has already been sued over the issue. His trial will be in april. Now the german modelbuilding community anxiously awaits the outcome because seemingly it's been an issue for years. They're claiming detailed scale models are nothing but highly educational and thus shouldn't be subject to censoring of the swastika.
I tend to agree with them, to me a model is supposed to be as accurate and close to reality as possible, including it's paint job. How is a smaller scale model less educational than a 1:1 replica in a museum that has the swastika?
Plus I should think that there're easier ways to glorify nazi symbols (if someone is so inclined) than putting them on a modelplane which took a couple hundred hours to build in the first place.
But.. back to topic. Great stuff
