One of the members did when he thought I was trying to impersonate someone in the AK's.  Once it was explained to him that my name has nothing even remotely to do with their squad, all protests ended.

I remember in a differente game someone there was this real idiot..was tking like (game was jedi knight III: jedi academy) he would change his name to impersonate different players and shout rude and inapproriate comments to make other players who were just playing look bad..including me.

That is a very rare instance, though ack I would just guess ack ack is not intentional impersonation.

Funny that this thread should come up. I always thought my handle would be safe until last week when i saw "Aloser."

Didnt really think of it as some sort of identity theft though.

Basically You are You and You know it. Unless the sign up system gets rid of similar call signs somehow that's just the way things gotta be.

Sorry Old Chap - I was N4CER in Air Warrior and no one seemed to get my call sign in AH so I switched to EN4CER.  I still get called ENHANCER at least once or twice a month.  I can Enforce a no fly zone over HQ - don't know about Enhancing one - hehe.  My apologies for being an irratating poser but I certainly do enjoy shooting down mincers like you. :D  Just Teasing!

I started flying AW RRE in 1996 as RHIN0 <---- last letter zero. Because RHIN0 had already been taken. Never did I ever see the other guy. Im sure he had quit long before I started playing. I did see lots of other spellings rino is a memorable one. But there was never any serious confusion. I stopped playing after AW went away and found AH about a year and a half ago. I use the same call sign now as i did then. From time to time someone will ask me something i know nothing about thinking im the other guy.  But it has never bothered or caused me grief.

Ack-Ack you can rest assured that if I meet you in the sky I know you from the newb after the first pass. I doubt it will be a problem for you.

funny thing is Waffle is I remember most of them pilots you just named from long ago ( er handles, call signs, game ids, cpids...did i cover it all?)

That little maggot Dlamb stole my name when I was on a break too, I don't think its anything to get pissed about though. :D

I actually think its funny.  He'll keep a name about as long as he'll stay in a squad.
