Coolest thing last night
« on: March 02, 2000, 07:03:00 AM »
Flying with Ripsnort last night in a flight toward F7.  We were flying along, he was about 380 above and ahead of me to the right.  He spotted a P51 shadowing our squad mate RAM and called to engage (We were on RW).

Well he was carrying a drop tank.  We started our turn to the right and he drop his tank.  This fuel tank just drops and comes fluttering down right past my canopy!  It was so real!!  I was amazed so I watched it sailing right past me. I mean it was flurttering in the spitstream just like ya see on those wartime reels!

What incredible detail.  I have never seen that before.  Talk about   !!

It gave such a sense of realism.  I wouldn't be surprised to see excess fuel being spilled from it!!!

Great Job HTC!!!!!

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Hehe, I was wondering at the time "does Swag see my drop tank?" and was kinda hoping you had it on film...good work the one sortie we had last night before discos, Ram, you and I were covering each other like expertens, though we didn't have  the fuel to run our kills up (to many P38's going after lone bomber) it was still a blast to work so closely with one another, an attribute of JG2!!!
