Since the CT seems to be doing many of these "what if" scenarios I was thinking.  What If The French Indo-China War as an excuse to use the following.

F4U-4 in lieu of F4U-7
F4U-1C or Tiffie subbing for F8F-1
F6F-5

also the french had a few japanese a/c that they used until they obtained some spitIX's.

A6M-2
Ki43

or use the spit IX

SBD-5
A-20 subbing for the A-26
B-26

These were all in the french inventory.

Now comes the real imaginary stretch as the viet ming had no aircraft at all whatsoever!!!  but if we feel generous we could.

La-5
La-7
Yak-9 T
Yak-9U
Bostons or Ju-88
IL-2

All the M's and the goons. no tanks no lvts

we could use the Mindanao map.

could this make for an interesting week?  It's just a suggestion.

Storch,

I like your setup idea, but you are missing one plane which is F4U-6 or AU-1 Corsair.  The French squadron 14F "One-eyed Corsar" and 15F "Bird of prey clutching a lance" did use AU-1 over IndoChina and I would say F4U-1C would be as AU-1.  I know some few history about Corsair over IndoChina.

Storch very nice but....... need to reskin planes as Franch Ones....
Otherwise it might become Soccer War or others without good impression.

If someones need I have a skin of Franch Navy F4U-7.....

Gonna be nice setup....

BTW we can also do early Korean War - F4Us+P51s vs La7/Yak9

That was going to be the next suggestion Artik.  Glad you mentioned it.  Real nice skin of F4U -7.

I loved the soccer war setup, really highlighted the capabilities of F4U4 over the other US planes.

Storch,

Nice idea but personally I am not sure how it would play out. I do these types of setups out of a result of being bored with how gameplay has progressed within AH in general. Its frustrating to me to redo BoB, ETO, Eastern Front (FinRus, etc...) over and over with the same gripes and complaints from all involved. I look at it this way as at least I am stimulating new discussion about things that might have happened or even possibly could have happened if little things had gone differently.

With that said for my next setup I am thinking about taking us to Sicily/Southern Italy/Malta and trying to highlight that section of the war.

I did ask for request on Korean War, but not enough planes as I thought and Reschke thought it would be good idea to have it, but not enough planes and no map either.

I'm not sure about the F4U-4, but flyiny the F4U-1 against Yaks and Lags is suicide.  We ran several of these scenarios in squad training.  The result is almost always the same, in pilots of equal or near equal skill, if you don't kill the ruskie quickly, he will destroy you.  You must have an e ad and a little luck.

Now, in the soccer war, due to numbers, Arlo and I found ourselves constantly flying the F4U-D vs. The F4U-4 in actual sim combat in the CT was only slightly superior to the D.  I was able to record plenty of kills in 1v1 situations against the overperked F4U-4.

I don't know why the F4U-4 is even perked.  There are several non-perked rides with better or very similar performance characteristics.  The guns package on the -4 is nothing special, the 6x .50 cals.  Now if you had the perfomance of the -4 along with 4 hispanos, that would be worth some perk points.

But back to the original point, I don't think the -4 will perform well, at least 1v1, against the 9U or the Lag 7.

Najdorf,

I have to agree what you said that F4U-4 should not be perk, but it got new engine (P&W R-2800-18W or P&W R-2800-42W) which probably 28+ faster than F4U-1s.  Vought F4U-4B with 4 x 20mm cannon was probably was too late enter WWII and I have no clue if they really see the combat in WWII.

well friends i kill lalas in ponies from time to time and i killed ponies in the F4U-4 during the soccer wars debacle.  also F4U-4's killed the lights outta me in ponies in that plane set.  I think that the soccer wars thing might have been better had the A/C been skinned in Honduran and Salvadoran colors.  it would be nice to see a little less of the same ol' same ol' in the CT.  allow me to die in something different for a change.

Could we irrespective of map highlight different mostly hangered types in the CT regularly?

The following would be great to see.

Tempest
Typhoon
Spit XIV
F4U-4
F4U-1C
Fw 190 D-9
Ta-152
Bf 109-G10
Me 262
Me 163
C 205

These could be embellished somewhat in Pac setups by subbing either soviet types skinned as IJF or maybe even some Germans such as the Bf 110 G subbing as the Ki 45 to cover gaps in the Japanese plane set.  These are just ideas don't vomit all over me because of them.
