I'm really liking the outside explosion noises, really adds to the immersion. I was qurious just how much outside noise you could hear in a WWII aircraft. Could you hear other planes zoom by, or firing their guns? Would certainly be cool to hear your ack popping and the osties and pnzr's firing, might actually start to sound like a war.

That would be cool!

OTOH, my wife says my secondary noises are overmodeled!

Ever been to an airshow? These planes are LOUD! I doubt you could hear anything from the cockpit except the engine(s) and guns.

We NEED to be able to hear flak explosions and mg sounds, BTW the explosion sounds are a very pleasant addition .

Yes, regardless of how much you could actually hear IRL, the current external sound settings provide a pleasant additional SA cue, plus they just plain sound cool  . The day I hear another plane buzz me, though, is the day I cancel my account, that's just too cheezy  .

Might be nice to hear your gunners shooting while piloting a buff.

I still reckon we should get to hear other aircraft... Imagine this:

Manning your ack in a CV group, listening to a flight of hawgs rolling, listening to Kates rolling in on your group... HEARING all the ack :-)

Or...

Parked in your ostie next to your field... hearing a flight of Lancs approaching.

Hmm... better turn the sub-woofer down <grin>

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I know it's crazy loud in the cockpit with the engine goin', but how bout when you're in the tower or a vehicle or (eventually) on a ship. Being able to hear all the things you should be able to hear adds so much the immersion in a game.

I don't hear any explosions..at all. Is it a sound setting?

Is it me or does the explosion sound different if the drop is a hit or a miss?

I'm hearing explosions now and it's great.  When I'm in a chute or in a ground vehicle I'd love to hear engine and gun sounds of other planes and vehicles.

What funked said! Nice to hear these sounds now!  And I also like the new ack; that fires without tracer smoke but the tracers are still there!! Looks very real now.

I went one step further....

Some of the sounds in AH were just not loud enough, so i fired up Sound Recorder (in winXX) and turned the volume up of the sounds I thought were too quiet.
Now I have done the same for the explosions!! woohoo +)

How about air raid sirens being heard while on field as well as the roar of incoming bombers....... wasn't there a post "where's the atmosphere?"
