Working on my short movie for school, and rigged this up. I'm using 3D Max, and I'm making a 15 minute max short movie as a culminating project for my senior year of high school. It's about WWIII. Anyways, this shows a flight of spacefighters, known as the XSF-31 Phoenix, enroute to take out a formation of satilites. I've had no lessons, and what I know about this program is from messing around and a few tutorials found online, so it aint the best.

impressive for someone in highschool with no training. a word of advice though. If you plan to make a carreer out of this, try to stay away from the space fighters theme. I can't tell you how many demo reels i've seen with these, and they are never impressive.  i know they are fun to do, heck I used to love doing them too. anyway just trying to help ya out. again only if you want to get a job doing this. if not, knock yourself out!

Cheers:aok

Space scenes are so much easier, lol.

I've done some atmospheric fighters too.  The story behind the Phoenix in my movie is that it was originally meant to be a normal fighter, but was scrapped due to poor performance.  It was then revived when it was seen that the design would work for as a space fighter.  Thus it was dubbed the Phoenix.

Here are the fighters
Top Left: F-35 Valkirie
Top Right: F-151 Mustang
Bottom Left: XSF-31 Phoenix
Bottom Right: MiG-42 Reaper

Very nice, Echo!  Who do you work for?  Anybody we'd have heard of?

A buddy of mine just got a job with Zipper, working on SOCOM 3.

Man, I just can't compete.  Furball, how do you do such great work!  It's amazing!  How much for the lessons?!  :D

BTW, great model of the Corsair Echo!  That's top notch!  How long did it take for you to do that?!

Did you go to college to learn, Echo, or were you more self-taught?

I have some interest in 3d modelling on a more casual basis.  I use Maya.

A Heckler & Koch Mk. 23 Tactical I did after about a month of fooling around with the software at the beginning of the year, using some decent reference photos.  I haven't been able to do anything since this, but now that finals at uni are over, I might delve back in.

thats a heck of a great model Ecliptik. Yes i went to school to learn how to do it.  Weavling i can't tell you how long it took to get that far, as i've just been doing it on and off in my spare time. If i had to guess i would say about 5-6 hours. Actually haven't worked on for over a month now.  Tarmac i used to work for a company called Kitchen Sink Studios. go to their web site.

http://www.kitchensinkstudios.com

They just do mostly architectural stuff.  I live in NY now though and just have a job doing autocad, till i get a decent portfolio together. hehe so i guess i told a fib when i copied furballs post.  It seemed like he was mocking either me or weavling so thats why i posted what i did. it was a mistake to bother though. oh well....live and learn.

Dazzling work, Furball, even better than Atari Tank and Biplane.
