Coming to the CT on May 7th: The Joke setup
« on: May 04, 2004, 10:45:55 PM »
There was a bus load of ugly people traveling through the mountains. Well the bus had an accident and it killed all of the people on the bus. So when they got to heaven God said; "Due to the extreme nature of all your deaths I will grant you one wish before you cross into heaven."

Well the ugly people made a line up to the gates of heaven and one by one approached God at the gate. The first person up was one of the ugliest women on the earth. When God asked her what her wish was she said; "I want to be gorgeous."; so God snapped his fingers and she became the most beautiful woman anyone had ever seen. This went on for a while and as each person stepped up and made their wish they all wanted the same thing...................to be gorgeous.

At the back of the line this one man (uglier than homemade sin, might I add) kept laughing his butt off each time the wish was made and granted. All the gorgeous people kept saying; "We don't care if you are laughing we are all gorgeous and you're still ugly."

Well eventually it was the man's turn and he couldn't stop laughing. So God said; "When you stop laughing I will grant your wish." So the man stops laughing after a few minutes and calmly says..."Make 'em all ugly again God!"

I believe the carrier based A/C played a very minor role in the invasion and should not be included.  Carrier based A/C in the European theater generally were engaged in the U-boat war protecting the convoys.

Don't see what the fuss over spits is all about.  They were there and should be included.

P51B should also be in the line up.  It was in Italy I believe that the  USAAF first cleared them for pure fighter duties.  Off-hand I want to say that one or two squadrons were in Theater.  Maybe a perked allied plane?

The fuss is this:  Our collective experience has shown that if a setup includes the Spit 9, the Allied pilots will overwhelmingly fly nothing but the Spit 9.  One might simply rename the setup "British Fighter Operations in [choose one:  Africa, Sicily, Italy, England, France, Germany, Israel]."  Granting that the Spits were there, their numbers were limited - significantly so in this upcoming scenario.

Just so you guys know the Spit IX is limited in some ways. I just have to get into the table itself and see what Jester did when he ran this setup 1 year ago this coming week.

Hi everyone

As far as i remember, Spit9 usually was perked with 2 perks in such kind of setups (i remember one setup with unperked Spit14 but perked Spit9 hehe). Its fair enough for me.
Just dont forget to reset perks :)

One way I like to work on limiting an aircraft within a setup is to have it available from specific bases. If I can avoid having an aircraft or vehicle perked then I will do so. Especially since it means that you have to watch out for the milkrunners during the slow times of the week.

Stream,

I thought about the USAAF and decided to wait and do that a little later. If we had a decent Italy map then that is where I would want to run it for sure.

The 109F-4 can handle the Spit5/9 just fine IMO.

If there was ever a scenario that needed Beaufighters this would be it.
