Beta 33 Lavochkin MP curves
« on: May 21, 2004, 03:07:47 PM »
I have a comparison here

Manifold comparison LA7 Beta 33 to La7 45210139Sept 44

The big Beta 33 errors IMO are

1)the ability to get WEP between 15K and 18K in climb
2)the ability to get WEP between 16K and 19k when level.
3)that MP is lower at 16k level than it is at 16 K climb
4)that MP is too high above 19K in climb
5)that MP is too high  betwen 9k and 11k in climb
6)that MP is too low between 9K and 11L when level.
7)that all MP's are too high below 9k.

Some notes..........

I do not want to get too fussy over individual numbers....there would have been errors as I read the guages.......the main point is that the curves are not right IMO.

Beta 33 level figures were taken at speeds slightly above std max speed for that alt.

VVS climb is not given for constant IAS speed. It drops of from 167 mph to about 150 mph at 23K.
VVS figures are transposed from mm mercury to inches mercury ( you will note that WEP and MP figures are correspondingly lower)
VVS alt figures are transposed from metres.
Numbers in red are where I have filled in gaps  to give a curve please feel free to change them.

The wep bug is fixed now.  What I also noticed is that the gauge was reading too high.  It now should read what is listed on the E6B.

beta 39

Can still get MP indication of WEP in the La5FN at 16>17k............ engine curve should be the same for both La5FN and La7 (I did not check the La7)

is this a read out thing or is the FM benefiting from this?
