A draft is political suicide.

You need to expand on this. For who, Kerry if elected, the Dems? They have been the ones harping on the need for a draft. Need more input. :)

I was unaware that we were having a recruiting problem that necessitated a draft. Its not like we've had a tremendous amount of casualties (compared to previous conflicts of the same length.)

I agree, haven’t heard how many divisions their talking about. They'd first have to build each new regiment or battalion size unit from a core of experienced officers, NCOs. Going to be a large undertaking anyway you cut it.

Sending kids off to a war they did not volunteer to fight, while half the population objects to the way it is run is never a good idea.

Who said it was for Iraq? Kerry wouldn't pull that would he? Oh BTW, the manpower for every long term war the US has fought has been rounded out with a draft. Don't remember many folks being voted out of office because of it. Maybe Johnson (68), but he decided not to run.

And the presidents that start them are voted out, and the drafts end. That is why i said it is political suicide.

A drafted army is not stupid at all.
Its got more self critizm and less lowend people who can't do other things.

Like those stupid fkups that torture and photograph  pows.  It's big stupidity.

I never learned that in the army i was always learned the geneve conventions.

A drafted soldier with some selfesteem already would throw this out to the media long before it's released now.

A good example is the dutch army in sebrenica they where not drafted they where "proffesional" Yes sarge no sarge i jump sarge.

befehl is befehl

Truman started the Korean war? Hmmm didn't know that. Where'd you hear that.

No draft after the Korean war? You sure?

LBJ started nam? Think he inherited that one.
