On some occasions when flying low (both times in a valley) the landscape broke up into a triangular relief pattern of pale and slightly darker greens.........

Tilt...perhaps its this you are talking about.....the "BIG GUYS" stated that a texture failed to load in the update...I have posted a link to the thread below....is this what you are referring to???

No it  "looked" more like some of the triangles that used to occur with bump mapping turned on.
