Awesome great photo effect on first picture.

where do u guys fly ? hl or ubi

AH2 still doesn't match on the way it looks like iL2 fb aep

The way cannon rounds impact on the nme aircraft
and machine guns makes the skin sparkle.

the debree and parts coming off.

At least the damage modelling looks like something.

Not for the 56FG. At the end of the war it was the only squadron not to transition to P51s. they took pride in their jugs and took the liberty of decorating them the way each pilot wanted.

All they kept standard was the code letters and the nose/tail color as follow:

61FS
HV-whatever
red nose, red tail

62FS
LM-whatever
red nose, yellow tail

63FS
UN-whatever
red nose, blue tail.

Check out those profiles, notice the diversity in the camo paterns as well as the markings (some have a yellow lettering, some balck, some red, some white...)

If you get a chance to come accros a late picture of the 56FG flying formation it's pretty cool, they thru whatever they had available, you see razorbacks, D25s with various field mod, P47Ms all with various camo. thank to Il2 skins, we tweak our own skin to our liking  like real 56FG pilots did.

Frenchy great pictures!!

AHII is too much like AW in the "good ways" for me to ever leave permenantly.

But,, those pictures of yours remind me of flying that evening with you and LtFoot. Nothing stands in the way of TBolts. I just can't get my squad to really fly them like they can be flown. What does it take to get setup for IL2? I'd like to come fly P47's with you guys once in a while.:)

Any chance the 56th will be coming back?

Pyro and Hitech were being VERY uncooperative when we pointed out the p47 "one hit on the engine starts up a fire". The P47 being our main ride, it's a bummer. AH still feels like our home. We are far from being impressed with AH2, but still wished to fly in it, to fly with our online friends.
We really didn't like HTC's attitude when we tried to talk about the p47 damage model, so for now we stay away from AH.

Frenchy, Sancho.

Great pictures.... FB looks like a blast.  I miss the 56th alot, but I haven't flown AH2 yet.  Is the P47 DM really that bad?  Seriously.

Here's another 56thFG jug. :)

Unfortunately yes Reddog.

When the engine is hit with one ping, there's a black and white smoke trail, which normally indicate a oil and fuel hit. The plane will explode after approx. 5 seconds.

The explaination given by HT is that the fuel tank behind the engine was hit. This is interesting given the fact that there's no fuel tank directly behind the engine. There's an oil tank between the engine and pilot, in front of the firewall. The main fuel sits below the pilot, and the auxilery tank behind.

The disappointing fact for me is that HT doesn't even say he'll look into the matter, i'm given the above explaination and no other. I understand HT is busy, but this matter does need to be addressed. :(

Nomde I am sorry for that. I did some early cockpit work on the first P47 in AW for dos in 92-3. Had to do alot of research. You are correct in that only a large oil tank is in front of the pilot. Did not know a fuel tank was below the pilot. I thought P47 and P51 all had self sealing tanks anyway. Jug had alot of armor in that area too. Just incase I got IL2FB Gold Pack today. Tell Frenchy..I like how you folks fly 47's.:):D

I would think the US Airforce Museum staff could set HTC straight on this. They have a P47..they can walk out and look...I know I am being simple here. Do you know any of the pilots of current flying P47. PYRO will listen to another pilot.:):D

On that first picture, what settings did you use to accent the 2 47's ...?  I really like that effect. If you don't mind me asking?   I have Paintshop Pro 8.10
