Q: Why is Scotch served at room temperature?
A: Because Lucas makes their Freezers too.

VOR, be aware that Irish and Scotch whisky have very different palates.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Yeah, I'm aware of it although I don't drink much Scotch. I enjoy Dewar's on the rocks now and then. Ya know, something just occured to me: why don't liquor stores have a Baskin-Robbins type "try before you buy" free sample program? :lol

Nah, probably because Lucas shipped their crap to the States and left their better stuff here! :)

I used to be a motor mechanic and I can honestly say that I never experienced any major problems with Lucas electrics compared to other makes.

Pretty good stuff! Tried it when I lived at Knox. Aren't they still in the micro-distillery class? Even still, I'm seeing this brand in more and more places.

They do, in Texas at least. Liquor stores can get a "Tasting Permit". But they must submit the permit 3 days before the tasting. If you want to sample several different brands, why not go to a bar?

Yep, they're still a small distillery based from the Jim Beam family.  A sipper glass on Friday night makes my week!!

If you like Knob Creek, really, give Elijah Craig a try. It retains a lot of that bold bourbon flavor, but the extra age gives it a much smoother finish.

Couple of reasons. Location = availability of hard to find brands. (I called some of the local stores looking for Oban before I resorted to a net search.) Also, I'm not much of a bar or party goer. Usually I'm just at someone's home or they are at mine.

Well, in that case, let me know if you're ever in the states, you can figure out what the **** is wrong with my Spitfire's entire electrical system :)

Well, I only ever worked on 3 Spitfire IVs, TR6, Dolomite Sprint and a TR7 so not that many!  TR7 was a heap of crap though. Triumph 1500, Toledo aswell.

Ah uisce beatha, the water of life.  A shot of whiskey every night before you go to bed is still considered the best  thing for you.

Remember Irish is whiskEy and scotch is rubbish.........er sorry spelt whisky. Damm Scots never could spell.  I prefer Irish whiskey  naturally enough.  It's so much smoother and refined.  I always feel you can taste the moors and bogs in Scotch.

Hey VOR surprising  that someone from TN should like Irish whiskey considering the local TN brew. Jack Daniels and all. I flew over Clarksville TN years ago while doing my Instrument rating.  I used to think all of America looked like Tennessee.

If anyone out there want to get their hands on a rare Irish whiskey let me know.  The distilleries are just up the road from me.  I'm sure I could pick up most of them.

I've only lived here for a little over a year. Job transfers me around alot. Yeah, there is some pretty good local stuff here for sure...but generally speaking you have to buy a select label if you don't want something mass-produced. Since a friend introduced me to Jameson a couple years ago I've thought of it as the cat's meow, so I wanna see what else is over there. :) As for the rare stuff from your neighborhood, I'd be interested in learning more if you have a specific recommendation and can arrange shipping. It would be a plus if it's something that will store well if it's only opened occasionally. Email me if u like and maybe we can make an arrangement.
