F6F Tail Bounce While Taxiing After Landing
« on: June 14, 2004, 12:23:50 PM »
Don't know if anyone else has reported this already...but here goes.

I've noticed that after landing the Hellcat, and while taxiing on rollout, that if I apply brakes too harshly and it starts to nose over, if I release brakes and the tail falls it will rebound upwards so high that I prang the propeller.

Not certain if this is a glitch or not...may be caused by the center of gravity of aircraft.  But it seems to me that the tail shouldn't rebound to a greater height than it was at before it fell.

Must be one of those planes with hydraulics to make it bounce like some of these Caddies you see on Tv.

La Cucaracha!

Whooo, That was close I almost suggested the pilot was Mexican... lol!
