I could drive down to Cali and spend an extra $.20/gal so I could pump my own, but I'm lazy so I let the pump monkeys do it for me.

Hope your watches are in sync. I fought one of those and won a few years ago. Guy just pulled me out of the stream of trafic and ticketed me. My dash clock ticked over to 8am while he was walking up to my truck.
The day I went to trafic court about 15 blond woman were lined up to contest tickets my cop had given them. They looked like a bunch of pretty sisters. Not a good day for that trafic cop.

If they trust you, why would you be fined if you dared try pump it yourself?

when I was in OR, I had to wait several times as ONE pump monkey ran around trying to pump gas for about 6 different cars at a time. It wasted my time more often that not. I loved sitting at the pump with the nozzle in my tank long after it had stopped pumping...... just waiting for some retard to come take it out so I could pay and leave.

That law is BS. It mandates a job that otherwise is obsolete.

Because California has deemed it necessary to clean up the air. Those of us who grew up in SoCal can remember when it was really bad. I'll pay the extra happily.

I want to thank California for introducing MTBE into gas to reduce smog emissions. Now ground water from California to New York is permanently contaminated with a known carcinagen.
