Cheapest place to buy CH products
« on: June 16, 2004, 06:25:35 PM »
My analog combatstick finally crapped out after 5 years (it didn't help that I snapped the stick off the base in a rage).  Even so, I need more CH gear.  Where is the cheapest you guys have seen? I think I saw a USB fighterstick for $89 somewhere, and now wish I had bookmarked it.

I buy from fscentral.com
They may cost around $10 more than the cheaper sites, but their service is so excellent that its worth dealing with them every time.

I had just downloaded patch 42 and was flying around the arena.  Everytime I would fire my guns, I would get screen freezes.  It was looking like my machine didn't like patch 42 one bit.  I attack a low fM2 (I was in a spit  9) and have a great shot.  I fire my guns and my screen freezes for several seconds.  When I can see again the FM2 is on my six and above me.  I start evading but every few seconds I would get a stutter and lose him.  It wasn't long and I was shot down.  I was mad because I knew that my machine is not going to be enough to run AH2 efficiently and I need to upgrade...however my machine is above min requirements.  Got a little frustrated and slapped my stick.  Normally it would just rebound but this time I snapped it from the base.  The stick was hanging by a few wires.  Uncool I think to myself.  I think."ammo, now you need a vid card, CPU, MB...AND a joystick (and new pedals if I go USB)".

http://www.buy.com

got my Ch pro peds from them years ago

(all USB)
Ch FlightStick $107

Ch Pro Throttle $107

CH Pro Pedals $105

free shipping

though my suggestion is the Pro Peds (online) and X45 from compusa with $10 12 month replacement plan - $90 w/service plan
then you get a brand new X45 every 11 months for another $10 - been doing it for years ..

Ammo.
Good story, that was one heck of a "slap".

You don't need all that stuff, just a new vid card and a new JS. I run AHII just fine with a 1.4 celeron and FX-5200 Ultra, 384 RAM, Win98. I have to run it with the performance sliders in the middle, but it's perfectly playable.

I don't want to upgrade because I would either have to live with the pains of WIN XP and CH Analog setup ( which means a dual boot 98/XP or keep an old 98 machine around, for programming the throttle) or buying all new USB gear.

If you buy a new vid card and the F-16 Fighterstick analog, your total investment will be under $200 and should work for a couple more years.

An FX-5700 Ultra runs about $160. Or if you use the Coolbits program to unlock the Nvidia overclocking sliders, you could get a 5700 LE for $100. The 5700 LE overclocks great and performs like a stock 5700 Ultra.

I think AHII should run acceptably on a Geforce 3 with lower settings. You should try a clean format, reinstall windows, your drivers, and Aces High 2.

The Geforce 3 isnt a bad card yet.

Yep, AH2 was running well until patch 42. I don't get it.

Getting a new card and processor are on my radar screen in the future, not because of AH 2, but because I am a geek that wants more power:D

I looked and found CH stick, peddles and throttle for a package of about 300.00. I am trying a X45 from saitek now and its 85.00 bucks. I think I will keep it cuz it has some good buttons on it but will add the CVH peddles to it cuz I am not crazy about the way they have the rudder on the Throttle. But other than that it seems to work great

Your stick wasn't USB? That explains why it broke....lol.

I've never did that to a stick, although came close...remember the OLD gravis joysticks? I had a 3 button red one and a gray 5 buttoner that I used for AW and I'd beat those up nice and meanly, but they held together. I HOPE I still have them because they were MAD PIMP!
