Are there any others here that spend a lot of time in vehicles like me?

This has more to do with my ability with flying fighters, than it does with my prowess with ack or whatever. I may be a bit slow at times, but I am almost always the first to lose a wing when meeting other fighters. I have spent more time on the silk elevator than actually flying I reckon.

Anyway, are there any other ack people, and what advice on leading and range can you give me?

Leading is just a feel. After you develop this "feel" lead shooting becomes quite easy. One thing that can help is when in ack/vehicle, page up so you are no longer using the site, but can see the shots/tracers. Sometimes it is easier to land lead shots this way. There is no real "tactic" its just basically feel. Or thats how I do it anyway, and it works damn good.

Sounds like you want to hook up with the LTAR squad flying Knights.  GVs are their thing.

I've had a similar experience when it comes to base defense. I'm more effective manning an M16 than a fighter.

As a fighter I'm more likely to pose a "tasty snaking opportunity" for a vulch-pro than any serious opposition.

Rod I think you;ll find XtrmeJ's advice sound.

Although personally i find the "Page Up" advice really only applies to the Ostwind. The M16's got so much rim on the turret and the crossbar gets in the way to make the sight the most unobstructed view.

Another useful tactic is to force the nme to come to you.

I like to position myself  where Enemy fighters are paying the most attention. That way their trajectory tends to flatten out a little giving you the GV equivalent of a HO.

Also nothing peeves a enemy more than going after that juicy hangar to find that they've got to jinx and mess up the divebombing/rocket solution.

record a sortie. then watch it from your targets point of view. notice how far your tracers are behind him, and adjust accordingly for the next time. try it on the drones offline. they are slow and predictable, so they are good practice.

ya know, it makes it much easier for us fighter types when you "other guys" play the  "vulch of choice" so we can cherry pick the enemies as they shoot you down!! :D

Echo's suggestion is the one I've had the best success with. You'll be amazed at how much you have to lead the drones, and remember, any divebomber worth his salt is going to be move much faster than the drones, increasing the lead that much more.

It just takes practice....much like flying those fighters you seem to loose wings on.... only choice you have left is WHICH one do you want to get better at, fighters or GV's ?  ;)

I was wondering what the effective height range was for
the various ground weapon weapons? (ACK..MG's etc)  I want
to try these.  Also, can tracers be turned off on ground wepons
as well?

ohio...you can turn off tracers for everything but panzer/tiger/and m8 main turrets...if i missed any im sure ill b corrected but your osti and m16's u can turn the tracers off

if you quit bailing out like a wuss, you can get back in the air faster and thus you'll get more practice.  :D
