There is one here in Birmingham at the airport that I have heard is going to be rebuilt and reconditioned into a flying. They also have an F-14 Tomcat sitting on the runway here that is without engines at the moment. It may take up residence along with the F-100 and other aircraft like the Delta Dart and C-47.

Really? A Tomcat here? I'll hafta go check it. Resche, have you seen the F14's there sellin at wallyworld in VF-2 Bountyhunters livery? Man oh man, had to pick one up as thats my alma-mater.

Some company from is supplying them to Walmert called "motorworks".

About a month ago I picked up a razorback jug in 1/18th scale and hung it over my desk with fishin line. If it ever cuts loose I'm going to need cranial work.

Cool thing is they kinda snap together rather solidly and they dont need painting or gluing. I also picked up a sweet looking panther. Now my wife and kids all KNOW I still haven't progressed beyond the age of 14 :D

As I look out my office window, I gaze upon an F-105 that I have unlimited access to and will be working on tomorrow in it's restoration.

Jealous?

Aw come on.....

Beautiful, big airplane whom I've had the pleasure of falling off of.

Haven't seen the F-14's but I see the Spitfires and Razorbacks all the time at the one down by my office. They also have several of the Willy's Jeeps as well. The F-14 is sitting on the ramp over where the B-24 and B-17 parked last fall. Its tail has the Fighter Weapons School badge/patch on it but I didn't have a pen or paper to write the tail number down.

I could snap off any picture you want but I've got no way to post them here.

I could e-mail them.

i took this picture while in long island at the blue angels air show. it is really an enormous plane, which alot of people don't realize. What amazes me is how such a large plane could have such a cramped, tiny cockpit.

edit: also, one interesting thing i learned about the f105 (call me dumb because I didn't know this) but the f105 was originally designed to be a nuclear bomber. If you look underneath it, it actually has rectractable bomb bay doors for holding a nuclear weapon, which I found kinda cool.

One of my employees use to be in the AF in the 50's and 60's. I've heard some great storys about working on those jet engines for the F-86/F100/F105. Some are pretty funny..

The F-14's are smaller (1/36?) and do not need to be put together. I've usually seen them in the model section and they are mostly all metal. Very heavy.

Spitfires in 1/18??? Where are they at? Seems dif walmerts have different versions and no variety. I did see a P40 at the Roebuck site and a Stuka at the Trussville store.

According to 21st Century Toys, they're going to be coming out with a 109 and a 190d9. There's supposed to be P51's and 38's already out but haven't seen them.

There's something about a 2 foot long Jug zooming about over your head that stirs the blood:D
