In a good way, I hope.

I tend to crack people up in a way similar to how a chicken getting raped by a character from a Stienbeck novel would crack people up.

Probably for the same reasons Republican politicians will stand on the shoulders of notable Democrats.
Politicians (Democrat, Republican, whatever) will usually make the most vague of promises just to get elected. Those that are specific in their promises by outlining actual plans/details are the ones that usually don't get elected.

Some are vague while others are outright impossible

It should be criminal for them to pander the impossible promises to their supporters either too stupid or too naive to know the difference ... like teasing a retarded child..

Yeah, no kidding. I'd like to see politicians have to sign a binding contract that they have to carry out their promises instead of sweeping them under the carpet. Unless they can give a detailed outline of taxation/funding/implementation/etc., then they can't make those "promises" to begin with. If they fail to deliver (or at least try to deliver) they'd have to resign within two weeks. Can we say less vague promises?
Also, no more attack ads. They'd have to actually put some effort and thought on why they are the better candidate. How would they solve (or at least attempt to solve) our modern day problems?
Yeah, I know I'm dreaming here.
