alt-tab clears texture preload
« on: July 18, 2004, 04:37:14 AM »
alt-tabbing to desktop seems to clear the system memory texture preload.  Total in-use reported goes down and textures goes to zero.  Quitting game and restarting results in preload going back into memory.

I concur............

exact same description happened to me 3 times straight with alt-tab ,  reboot all is fixed as was...alt-tab boom, lose tex mem load and sys mem  in use drops.......did not seem to have an effect on over all game play though.no stutters..

Igot the same indication, but unchecking then rechecking preload brought it back instantly, meaning it was still there just not being indicated sinse it would have taken 15 to 20 seconds to reload if it were deleted.

might be a difference in cards or something, but how you uncheck then recheck it, while still playing the game? I had to check mine in the video setup, at the start screen.......am curious?

and why would total sysmem in use go down, when alt-tabbing out, then coming back in? regardless if you have tex lpreloaded or not?

Just click settings then video then video setup. The memory used indicator changed on mine too.
