This is really gonna work...

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/americas/07/24/brazil.guns.ap/index.html

The fact remains that the law abiding will stupidly allow this, and the criminals... well, they will continue bing criminals.  All this will do is ensure that the rate goes up when the criminals realise that the law abiding are now easy marks.

I'm surprised she hasn't been asked to speak at the DNC... unless she's so ugly that even Hillary wouldn't hit it.

With over two thirds of deaths to firearms, I think it would be necessary to start somewhere.

No, wait, better idea, more guns.

That's only $50 per gun. Maybe she needs a better agent.

did it ever occur to you that the same amount will likely be killed the next year.  they could just use the same means that were used on the other 3rd of the murders.

Very unimaginable ploy. Disarm the people= Conform Comrad.
It`s even been tryed here in the U.S. to some extent. It`s really sort of funny to think that any kind of gun control would work in the U.S. First off comes the registering and licenseing of handguns and firearms. Let`s suppose your a professional criminal and you are hired to do a hit on someone. Are you going down to Al`s Firepower Emporium and purchase the gun you are going to use? Gonna do a bank job? Going to Wally World and buy the guns you and your group are going to use? I didn`t think so.
It`s so easy to buy firearms that are not even on the records it`s laughable.
The only thing these laws do is get in the average, law abiding citizens pocket when they buy a firearm. That`s what most of these assinine laws are supposed to do anyway..... generate cash and make it even more difficult to stay within the law.
Gun plans are easy and free to get. A small home garage machine workshop can replicate and produce any gun on the market now or one from the past on a fairly large scale. These guns don`t have serial numbers, etc.

OK I'll walk you through it.  the link claims that 68%(or roughly a 2/3) of that countries murders were committed with fire arms.  murder is about killing people, it's about wanting them dead, not about having a gun and wishing you had someone to use it on.

the fact of not having guns legally available does nothing to address the real issue of the murderers wanting to see the victims dead, and their willingness to make that happen.

so if this program is 100% effective and even the criminals give up every gun in that country, when someone wants to kill another person (and it seems to happen a lot in Brazil) they will just have to find another means, as the other 3rd of the killers did last year.

or if you want the short version.  to quote Archie Bunker (regarding the 86% who were killed with firearms)- "would it make you feel better if they was pushed out of windows instead"

You don't think removing a "point and click" aspect from murder would lower murder rates?

If you believe this is gonna work, you should get your head examined.

actually its not 2/3rds....

its 68% of 27.1 homicides per 100,000 people. wich is roughly 18 per 100K

According to UNESCO, Brazil has 27.1 homicides per 100,000 people -- the fourth-highest in the world. Sixty-eight percent of those killings are committed with firearms.

gun control does not reduce deaths.  Enforcement of laws does.
