ok, lets see.

Get padded up and have Ray lewis hit you going over the middle.

Then come back and say football is sissy.  more then likely he would kill 90% of the people on this board, without a knife.

Now equating running for 45 minutes to taking a 250 pound linebacker hit in the chest is just insanely stupid.  Sounds like a lot of sissy girlie men lost their girlfriends to football players.

No hit a soccer player takes is harder then a football player, ever.

I've never seen a soccer game where they had to intubate and bag/mask a guy right there on the field.

With 300/400lbs mutants smashing into each other its no wonder.

Football (American)is a skilless game.

Indeed, and I can't see why some people equate the violence aspect (being hit by a 350lb lump) to "quality sport".

Americans believe that sport requires not only speed, strength, agility and great hand-eye coordination.......... It also should have an element of courage.

After all, sport is a substitute for the hunt, right?

When does a 350lbs lineman need hand to eye cordination?  He doesn't..only the guys touching the ball need that...which is about 10% of the team...maybe.  The rest just bash into each other.  Skilless....absolutely skilless.

The real football has all of the aspect of the game you talk about MT.

Foot-eye in the real game's case.

And foot-eye is much tougher.  MUCH tougher.

Except the Goalie of course, who requires the hand-eye co-ord more :-)

Soccer, at a kids level is "fluffy time" move up to a mens league (i did at sixteen) and it's a pretty dirty contact sport complete with academy award winning actors. Throw in a first generation Irish ref and it's Rugby with the wrong type of ball.

Football, put twenty pounds of protective gear on and i could spend all day flak'n paint off the Bike helmet head butt'n the 200 lbers trying to run the slots thru the middle. Football easy to play with all that extra weight and a helmet (especially a full cage) that reduces your view and senses, it's tough.

Had more fun play'n Football than Soccer, spent eight years in soccer and five in football, two years of Rugby.

Now Rugby makes both look like a gurl's sport.

Rugby no doubt is not girlie.  I enjoyed the hell out of playing soccer and on occasion had wished it was more popular here.  Still its not as tough as football.

I played some rugby not much but some and yes it hurt but I really only got knocked out hurt in football.  The pads give a sense of invincibility and guys generally go in full bore and well those pads really dont help much.

I agree Dnil but i don't think Soccer (select men's league) is an absolute gurlyman game and you're allowed full contact as long as you play the ball and the ref knows the rules, heck the only time i had worse bruises to the bone on my legs was during full contact kick boxing in a ring (five years of that).

Hey Scottish mom here, who else would get you outta bed at 5:00 am on a freezing dec morning to go and swim and few miles with pantyhose on (2 years Tomac swim team).

Aussie Football, dem guz are crazy nutz.
