Soulyss, CV Beaching
« on: August 08, 2004, 12:27:41 PM »
We must understand that this beaching goes both ways for axis and allies. I think it is a good idea that Soulyss will disable maned ack on the fleet. But he needs to max fleet hardness. He cant increase leathality due to puff ack, right? I aslo think he needs to increase ack hardness on fields to prevent base capping. That is just as bad as beaching a CV, is it not?

The A6M5 is the best plane for low attacks from a carrier. This seams to be the center of the PTO set-ups. The fights are always at allied bases where the allies are then the underdogs. The zeros are the best for that. This forces the allies to up in F4Fs. The F6F sometimes caint quite get the alt and speed it needs. The F4U-1 is out of the question and is forced to take-off from a secondary base. That secondary base more often is two grids away. My F4U death last night was from upping a caped base. I was able to level on the deck and extend but not before Truekill got my fuel tank. I lived but ran outta gas and ditched. A second CV, unknown to me, was close and my ditch was credited as a death. Go figure!

My point there; I was asked why I was in a field gun. With the fights being close, and no dot dar, I elected to help keep the CVs from being captured i.e.
 Thank you storch.
As much as I hate having to sit in that chair, I fear the CV would have been sunk if Memnon and I had not been in there.

As for the earlier situation, The same was happining. The guys basicly stoped attacking ur field so I was trying to get both CVs to a safe distance. One CV was hurt bad and had no guns. I was using the second fleet for ack cover to retreat the damaged CV. At the time, we were loosing fighter cover and I thought the fleets would be captured if sunk as was the case even earlier that day. Unknown to me, soulyss changed it to where the CVs could not be captured. However, CV3 was captured late last night.

Just before the CV stuff above, I did make a few F4U sorties. I was helping to keep our field from being attacked from Zeros, from a beached CV, before being overwelmed. I left the area and flew two grids away to land my five kills. Its not ewsy flying a single corsair against four or five zeros. Loose you speed in a dogfight and the incomming zeros will eat your lunch. I dont care if I shoot down ten planes, IM not hanging around to get shot down. Sorry thats the way I fly.

Fly the way you want, tell your squad to fly the way they want, and dont worry about anybody else (me included) complaining about it. Do whatever it is that allows you to have FUN, anything else is a waste of time.

In the past I have said some harsh stuff to you, but I wont anymore. If you see me say somthing you think is out of line SAY SO. Most of the time it isnt meant in the way you might think up front because I have a pretty warped sense of humor, I'm probably trying to be funny.

Last night for example, some clown was claiming Storch was cheating, and I said:

xxxx: I see Storch has the invisibility cheat on...
Grits: Hey xxxx, are you new to the CT?
xxxx: I'm not new to AH
Grits: because all the CT regulars know Storch sux, and if he was
Grits: that bad AND was cheating, well thats just sad
Storch: Uhhh....thanks Grits...I think...hey!?!

Storch knew I was kidding, but maybe not everyone I could have said that same thing about would have gotten the joke. I did something similar to you:

System:P6EHawk landed 782,498 kills in a gun ship or field(ok, maybe thats an exaggeration)
Grits:flying much tonight Hawk? :)

That was meant as  "dang Hawk, your good in that gun". Notice, the smiley, anytime I type something you think isnt nice and you see a smiley, (which is 99% of the time) that means I'm kidding.:aok

Fly what/how you like and have FUN.

There was some pretty bad stuff hapened last night. Although some I saw NOT kidding, the trash talk started and someone I have never seen before made a very bad coment to !!!!!!. It was not good. It was a real life family threat that could get him put in jail. We need to stop the trash talk. There is a fine line between "Lighthearted" trash talk and "Insults". Lighthearted to some might be an all out insult to others. There is a time when a person's emotions dictate the difference although the statement may be the same from one day to the next. A person that thrives on replys from his or her continuous insults should not be allowed in the game.
Skuzzy played with this in the General Discussions Board but it looks as if it died out. I would like see the "Player Run" CT Staff remove guys that send continuous insults. Anything; a noun- Milker, Porker, HOer, Lammer, Sloberdonkey, bleep bleep etc.

That was right after I left. I missed it but I did hear it was serious.

This is very true. I disagree that we should stop all trash talk, like it or not, its an integral part of the game, and it has been since the original Air Warrior in 1987, that wont change and shouldnt. Profanity and actual threats are unacceptable, poking a little fun at a guy you like, yet just happens to be on the other side is, and should be, OK.

eather put the CV maned ack up or make the town stay down for about an hour cuz it easy for allies to take out a town cuz their fighters have 2k of bombs and 6 rockets and we have the B5N unless u wanna fly 35miles in a ki67 witch has about the same amount of bombs we need the 8" gun to help take out a town. and what happens when a lown F4U comes along and sinks our cruser in one pass we cant protect it.

How about increase downtimes and increase troops to 30? That is three loads of troops. This will prevent certain "gamming" activities such as one man, one plane, one load of troops:(

I dont know what the exact mix should be, but I think Hawk is on the right track. There has to be a group of settings where a well organized squad can still take a base *relatively* easily, yet make it next to impossible for 1-2 guys to do.

I don't know about relatively easy.  Base capture in WWII was a costly, bloody, nasty and drawn out affair especially in the Pacific.  I think that CT norm should be 20 troops it makes it challenging and it cuts down on the whining a bit it seems.
