Double trajedy tonight...

I put Deus Ex (my favorite game of all time) into my relatively new (and unwarrantied) Sony 52x/32x/52x CD-RW drive. The CD must have burst when the drive spun it up because the tray popped out of the drive and suddenly both were destroyed.

I'd heard of this happening, but I never thought I'd see it myself. Luckily nobody was hurt. I've found shards of busted CD against the opposite wall.

i lost my cd rw drive while re-attaching the power button, it would just sit there trying to open and not getting very far, so we went back in and disconected the little ****...

Had one spewl green stuff and it spun the HD around and then it said "Got a dime for a poor Alter Boy Father?"

However, on a related note: this morning I found a chunk of CD lodged in the drywall... I'd hate to see what might have happened had it hit a person or animal.

didnt think you needed a reason to sue for millions.

cant you sue for having suffered emotional and psychological damage because of the incident.

the guys on dicovery channel tried to dispell this myth is possible...it seemed they did but you got actuall proof take pix and send it to them they are called the "Myth busters"

Exact same thing has happened to my son. He put his broodwar CD in, the drive went nuts and sounded like it was spooling at a million RPM, then KABLOOIEBLAM!
CD's really do come apart in a spectacular way. There wasn't a piece bigger than a centimeter left.

sumthin like this happened to my gateway last year, put my Mechwarrior 2 disk in my CD drve. Cept instead of blowing up it just melted in the drive while turning and smelled real bad. had to get a new drive.

I once had a disc spin up in a drive, then the drive started making funny noises and the disc wouldn't read, so I ejected it, and the cd did a flying saucer routine across the room. It was pretty impressive...never could reproduce that though, even with the same drive and CD.
