Radar Settings, question
« on: August 18, 2004, 03:45:23 PM »
Can you define the radar settings?

Currently all I see as far as radar is DOTs inside radar circles. How do you increase this?

Do you mean that DOT DAR can be set to see dots out side or radar circle?

Also, can you confirm icon settings? Are there only two settings?
D3 and D6?

We have the ability to set a tonne of radar settings...

a) Range and altitude of the radars at the airfields (dots inside the circle)
b) Range and height of sector radar at which you'll appear (bars)
c) Ability to turn on or off the radar for friendly, enemy, planes only, etc.
d) Ability to adjust the range in which bases will flash for all crafts.
e) Range at which enemy identifier will appear above an aircraft. Friendly is always 10 miles.

That being said, HiTech gave us a few tips on radar settings to make it a better arena: full friendly/enemy.  That is perhaps a closer setting to true dar capabilities of WWII.  We just lack ground control stations to relay that information to us.

As Fork mentioned we can adjust the settings all the way up several thousand feet or down to zero feet. I opted for what I am calling "full" where if you see a radar circle in the majority of the bases they are pretty much overlapping or very hard to squeeze through without some allied or axis base radar showing you there unless you are flying at wavetop/treetop.

This was in regard to a setting HT suggested which may or may not improve finding of fights by the players. However I didn't want to include full map dot dar based on a comment that HT said when I was visiting the offices.

OK, lets see if I understand this.

Full radar controls the Altitude? i.e. 500 ft floor?

I see that "Range Bases COunters" removes bar dar. Cant really tell what others do just playing off line.

Close Hawk. The way its done is a little different but it allows us to set the altitude very specifically. If I wanted to set the minimim altitude at 55 feet it could be set there.

Ok, I just thought when I saw "FULL" that it ment radar, DOTS, could bee seen ALL over the map. That was scarry! Now, this does mean that the DOTS will only appear inside circles or can they skim out just a little?

You are right about the full setting. If you click full friendly you will see those dots all over the map and the reverse is true for full enemy. As the settings indicate you can also eliminate friendly radar from the map in the setup and only show enemy as well. I will help you guys out with this later as I have to leave the office now.
