Internet Problems.... i need help
« on: August 19, 2004, 11:01:01 AM »
A few weeks ago i bought a HP 3200 computer and a ATI Radeon 9600xt card.  I hooked everything up and installed the graphics card.. but the internet is getting F*cked up!   I get a ton of pop-up's even though i have a trial pop up blocker running and Google toolbar installed.  Also 8 out of 10 times i open the internet the page will "not respond" and i have to cold boot the damn computer.       I run Spybot Destroyer and find 1-5 spyware on my computer so i delete and my computer is find for another day then the next day...BOOM internet stops responding.

anyone know what i could do?

What OS are you running?

According to this article, there are some spyware programs that are practically impossible to remove. Think it's level 6 from the Spyware Inferno.

My son's computer was doing something similar the other day. I had popups hitting even while not browsing. I deleted and disabled every application I could find, but I couldn't kill it.

So... I wiped the drive.

Stop using Internet Explorer.

Download Firefox:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

I kept getting really bad spyware problems. Constant popups, Google toolbar was no use.

After about 6 cycles of cleaning them out, surfiing for a day, getting them back, I started using Firefox.

The spyware is still on my PC, but it only runs when I run Internet Explorer, which I haven't done for months.

Stop accepting cookies from almost all sites and don't run active-x operations unless you are sure it's a good site. That cut out most of my spyware problems and I use IE.
