Wabb: "...Wabbit carefully steps over the puddles of frothy spittle left behind by Manock."

Thanks for the morning laugh, people in my cube are all staring at me like I've lost my mind after LOL over your opening line in your post.

Manock, I've found 1 hacker in WB's, I don't doubt that one can hack the game, but when you see "several" while you're flying in one night, that is most likely your connection.

Folks that "game the game" are a far more serious threat than the "once in a blue moon" hacker.

Hacking is a very real...but very limited problem. I'm only aware of one individual who seriously hacked AW (but there may be more). 99.995% or more of stuff you see is legitimate network lag or more often simply skill.

However it can be a real economic issue for HT if it effects the subscriber base. I sent a film to mage (and talked to him at AW99) about the only one i ever saw ...plane literally did an "asteriods" shot..firing off the screen at an angle and nailing me. We were dead level on the merge reversed and met level on merge again (maybe 300 vertical seperation). Swear it looked like a gunner firing from a buff . Anyway Mage indicated it wasnt a real priority to him..and the moment Moss mentioned AH I was gone.

As a consumer i can only vote with my wallet, the only thing that would ever sour me on AH at this point would be the open aceptance of hacking. The above mentioned individual was actually distributing a hacked exe file to friends.

As I stated at the beginning the problem is far overstated in my mind BUT when it does occur I hope HT has the ability to protect his product (legally,technically..someway) better than AW.

Anyone who has heard Mancock online will know what a dipso the boy is. Barks "stop this diddlyin plane" for 10 mins when he joins a c47 <dope> and then is too thick to realise bout five people are trying to help him. He squeakes that everyone is cheatin after Superfly cleared him from my 6 (was good kill saw from rear view). As people got sick of him squeakin about FMs and so on (he obviously hadnt RTFM) he signed off with "diddly all you". I can see him now, a 14 yr old pubescent dick child in a state of semi-permanent masturbation runnin up bills on daddys card. This isnt afterburner mancock it takes a few hours of play to really get the hang of things. Change your handle, come back into the game, shut your face and if u want help ask.

Dotsie.

DoctorYo,

Checksums aren't the sollution. Crack the files and crack the protocol. Code a proxy that detects outgoing packets containing checksum replys and stuff those packets with correct values. The end result is that the server will think you have a legit version.

LOL!

I had him in my squelch list in the first week I spent playing!

BTW, if you do read this, what type of connection do u have?  It wont help if your still on a 14.4k trying to play a game with 70+ people at the same time...

We have always taken hacking extreemly seriously.

I will never comment on what I do for hack check because the first law of catching hackers is don't let them know what you do , infact I almost fired someone at my previous company for posting about some of the stuf we do for hack checking.

2nd rule is don't let them know they have been caught until its 2 late. i.e. Never just tell them with the FE.

Kewl..       Then you call in that small, covert para-military unit for the strike.
............................. ....

Wabbit steps up to the base ops observation window.  He stands there, sipping from his coffee mug. He watches as the men in black ninja suits, ski masks, and infrared night vision goggles load into the three awaiting helicopters.  They move silently, and quickly, as is their habit after the years of training.  They check their repelling harnesses and high powered sub machine guns and silencers one last time before before transmitting the signal, "AHOG good to go.."

Wabbit turns to HiTech who is bent over his terminal, verifing the evidence one last time.  He leans back in his chair and locks Wabbit with a stern gaze and gives the nod.  Wabbit picks up his mic, turning back to the window:  "Avenging Hand of God, you are cleared for take off.  Good luck lads...and good hunting."

The three helicopters, almost invisible against the night with thier flat black paint, lift off and disappear into the darkness.
