Chainsaws, Best one?

Ok, I'm wanting to know whats the best all-round chainsaw, shrubbery to trees.

And it needs to be cheap, or atleast resonable.

Just convinced mom It would be best to buy a chainsaw before the hurricane comes..

Sorry but I gotta say that in my experience those Poulans are nothing but underpowered junk. Not to mentiuon that the name sounds French.

If I was buying me a chainsaw today I wouldnt get anything less than THIS MODEL

Grun,..that link does not take you to a chainsaw.  It takes you to a redirector/COM object.

Might want to put a warning in the post about that as it is not standard HTML, it could leave a bad guy on your computer.

How does POLE-AN sound french?

Never had a problem with mine.

Not underpowered at all.

Not junk at all.

These are two good manufacturers. I cut between 5-8 cords worth of wood each winter.

Started off with the mid range stihl (026) and it lasted about four years w/ rough duty.

Graduated to the rancher series (323) of the husky and I wouldn't have anything else now. One of the things you'll appreciate about a saw is the ability to get at the stuff that needs to be cleaned. Air & oil filters--anything with a quick release. Like any tool, keep it clean and it lasts--I'm inherently lazy tho so when things are easier to clean, well, they get cleaned more often.

You will however find that "good" and "cheap" are mutually exclusive when shopping for a mid range saw.

If you are cutting downed trees leaning against your house after a hurricane, cheap is not what you want. Think of it as an emergency generator; would you want ti to break down when you needed it?

Husqvarnas used to be the "Mercedes" of the chainsaws thought I haven't touched one in 15 years.
Jonsered was another good brand thought I'm not sure if they sell them in US ?
Anyways it seems you don't need to use it much so even cheaper brand will propably be just as good as slightly more expensive Husky. Then again if you buy a Husky you can be sure you'll get spareparts for it even years later.
Tough choice :D

Guess everything changes... I checked the Finnish "Agronet" site and in board over there the "pros" are discussing what saw to get for the lighter use.

Stihl MS200 seems to be quite popular amongst those guys.
