need a joystick but being that this will be my third in a year im a little hesitant about witch one to get (not like theres many choices out there)

1.saitek-first stick was a saitek but i broke it fairly easy playing this game, also i just ordered and received one a week ago and had to send it back because the rudder didnt work.

2.logiteck- had nothing but problems with it (wingman version)
but the more i look the more i keep comeing back to getting the same stick i just threw in the garbage three weeks ago.

3.ch sticks- a little too pricey for me, looking for one no more that 60 bucks

i dont know.

i want a stick that wont break on me in three months and that i dont have to calibrate thiry times a night.

i have also tried several sticks and keep going back to the ms sidewinder precision stick.

i have been using the one i bought in 1997 for over a year in ah and still working good.

so i decided i was not going to find one less than $60.00 as good as the sidewinder precision pro or precision II. and ms does not make these sticks anymore. i have been buying these sticks as i find them, so i would have a back up stick if needed

i have 5 of these sticks now if you want one let me know.

Lol Flash,I have 4 MSPP twistys also...and still a bit distressed that they dont make em anymore.

Though i also own a CH fighter stick. I prefer the hat, buttons and throttle on the MS,,so i disable the twisty and use CH peds.
Nice set up for me

Since it may be tough to find an MS, suggest you try one of the saitek twistys if thats what your looking for.

I've had my Saitek cyborg 3d gold for 2 years now and its still workin great. I had to fill in the groove that I wore in the hat switch rod with a little ca glue and now its workin fine and I've wore off alot of that pretty silver paint on the stick and it now has a very smooth polished white surface where my fingers go.   Can't tell I'm an AH addict can you. :)
Any way not bad for $30 IMOP.

Oh and I had a Logicrap wingman extreame it worked fine for about a month then the rudder started spikin real bad the rest of it still works fine and It is still my favorite stick for calibr8ing my bomb sight but with no rudder it did suck to fly with. and my brother got some other Logitek stick but he had to calibr8 it every time he turned the comp on.

There are still Sidewinder sticks out there if you look for them.

Ebay has a good variety. Make sure you check shipping $, USB, etc. I got my backup stick that way for 28$ with shipping.

In many respects there WERE the best all in one stick for under 50 $ available.

Just hope someone comes along to do a better job of filling the niche.

Since I hate it when people say "I told you so", I wont say anything later.  I'll say it now.  Ive owned many different Logitech sticks over the years, I even have one in the closet now I use for emergencys.  I hated every one of them.  They dont stay calibrated, the twist rudder is so spiky its almost useless, and if you have the FF model like mine, the centering springs are cheap junk that stretch and wont hold up.  You can spend the 40 bucks now, and you'll be spending more money later.

I agree with the ones who posted in favor of the MS Sidewinders.  When I crawled up out of the hole I'd been living in for the last few years and wanted to start flying in AH1, I looked around for a new Sidewinder.  I was really bummed when I found out they didnt make them.  So I hauled the old CH Flightstick out of storage and sent it off for repairs (which I had been meaning to do 5 years ago, but lost interest when AW went bye-bye).  I used the cruddy Logitech stick until I got my CH back and then I threw the piece of junk back in the closet.  My CH stick is somewhere around 10 years old, and I had worn it out, but it refurbed real nice.  You cant get longevity like that out of the junk they make now.  Even the Thrustmaster sticks have problems, and they have been around awhile.  You get what you pay for.

I agree with StarofAfrica...CH is fantastic. I bought my first serious CH set in 1996 when i started playing airwarrior. I had the FighterStick, Throttle, and Pedels. They still work perfectly fine today except they are no longer supported under windows XP so its a PITA to set the buttons. So in 2002 I bought the USB versions of the Fighterstick, Pro throttle and pro pedals. Two years later they work like they are brand new. My brother has also owned CH sticks and they have never failed on him. In fact, ive never had one CH stick fail on me ever. I even had the flightstick pro in the mid 90s...gave it to my friend after 5 years and I bet it still works.

Paying a little extra now is going to save you a lot of money in the long run. You can always buy a cheap POS with a replacement warrenty and bring it back every couple months. If you want quality, CH is the only game in town. It used to be CH and Thrustmaster were great options, but TM has gone down hill and it makes me sad. You truly do get what you pay for.

BTW...look on ebay! I bought my entire setup for $150.00 from a guy who rarely used them and they were in new condition.   Good Luck!:aok

In the early AW days i owned 4 Logitech (wingman extremes) in 1 YEAR! I am on my 4th Logitech Extreme Pro 3D in 3.5 months in AH2.
Bought the first one and have exchanged 3 of em so far. The problem is the same every time. Ill start a Roll left Axis input...and momentarily it will roll right then catch up and roll left at twice the input rate. When new...they work great. But calibration becomes a constant routine shortly thereafter. I have a squad mate that has had the same one for about 4 months without a problem...(out side of re-calibration) But the other day he started getting the same (Roll Axis) problem i am getting. If thees an optical eye in the stick? Maybe is getting dust on it. But in a month? Paleease.
any way...i dont feel i should have to start dismantling the dang thing after a month. LOL
But i guess i will just to check it out. For now STAY AWAY FROM THIS JEWL! :rofl
ps. MS PP2 (With the Dial throttle not the lever) was the best stick i ever owned to date. Used the same one in AW the in AH1 for a total of 6 years. btw...i still have it and it works great except for the springs and bushings are so sloppy now. lol

spent the better part of the day yesturday canvising town, trying unsussesfully to find any other stick other than logitech, and saiteck.

picking's were slim even with these name's. could'nt find anything, came home and checked out the ch stick's online and could'nt find one with a rudder twisty.

checked microsoft also and just didnt like the looks of the sidewinder sticks.

blaaa!  went back to logitech and bought the wingman force stick.

only problems i had with this stick last time were. spikeing rudders, alot of play when centered, and had to recalibrate too often. one cool thing i liked about this stick was that there were no springs in it, it was gears and motors (plastic mind you). was a nice stick if you like the feel of pulling g's, helps you not black out.

the recalibration thing, i had someone suggest to me that it might be windows doing this, by shutting the usb's off when they go idle for any amount of time so this time i have diabled that option in the hopes of eradicating this pain in the butt.
