ok, xp pro - ahII new patch a no go.

installed xp pro over win 98.

had ahI and AhII prior to latest patch release running flawless.

Now with xp, uninstalled AHII, installed fresh. Get to black screen showing hourglass timer, as if AH is going to load then dump to desk top.

.. and have dx9c aswell.

Don't tell HT it does not work with XP, as he has XP on his development system. :D

Sounds like you just need to update the video card drivers, and probably the sound card drivers.

if i may say, you also shoudl re-format and do a fresh install instead of an upgrade.

after that, winXP likes to install devices automatically, and your vid drivers and sounds drivers are probably not quite the best.
I don't know what to put here yet.

When I did the same thing, upgrading from 98 to XP, it didnt automatically detect any of my devices.  I had to manually detect and install drivers for the sound, video, etc.  I was used to 98 at least telling me there was something there, even if it didnt know what it was or where the driver was.  XP didnt do that for me.  I'd check the device manager and make sure all your devices have a listing, and that there are no ? in there.
